He texted you continuously, saying he need to see you. That he needed to explain. He tried to get in touch with you so much you had to block him. The image of him no longer creating butterflies in your stomach, instead it made you loathsome towards yourself and towards them.

In an attempt to cheer you up Hanna set you up on a date, convincing you it would be a good idea. However you knew it would be too soon. You agreed because they could see how much you were hurting and it hurt them as a result. You would do anything for your friends, knowing they'd stick by you no matter what.

You tied back your hair and put on a nice outfit. You weren't dressing to impress him, but it didn't hurt to at least look good.

You met at a restaurant, possibly the worst place for a first date. You firmly believed it was the worst place ever, having to create conversations along with dealing with your nerves. To say it was awkward would be a huge understatement. You didn't know each other which gave you a lot to talk about, but he wouldn't stop talking. The waiter gave you your menus and you ordered pretty much straight away. He had stopped talking, presumably to ask you something, but your eyes were focused on something else. Or rather someone.

It felt like you had been physically kicked. On a table not far from yours was Cece and Jason. They were having a meal and looked like a proper couple. In books or movies this would be the point where you would try to make him jealous. Where you would have such an amazing time with this boy that Jason would wonder why he ever cheated on you. But that wasn't you. You didn't want to make him jealous. You just wanted things to be as they were before. You wished this all never happened.

You didn't even realise you were crying when you excused yourself from your date, walking straight out of the restaurant doors. You didn't wander far, not wanting to completely abandon him, you just hoped Jason didn't see you.

Unluckily he did, as he came through the door. He stood still, taking in your posture. You had your hands on your waist, trying to control your breathing, fresh tears rolling down your cheeks.

"y/n..." he muttered. You could see his eyes moving around, as he tried to think of how to start. You should've walked away or back inside, but you didn't. You froze, not knowing what to do.

"Why did you do it?" you said, you voice sounding surprisingly strong considering how vulnerable you felt.

"You weren't around... I-I didn't mean to do anything y/n." he sighed "she came over whilst I was outside, so she joined me."

"You make it sound so innocent, but it looked pretty intimate when I got there." You snapped.

"I didn't mean to, I swear. It just felt like old times..." you could see the pain in his eyes, but his words stung you more than he could've imagined.

"Old times...." You repeated, no longer angry. "She was your first love right?"

"Y/n....."

"Did you even care? At all?" you sobbed, no longer able to keep your emotions in.

"Yes, of course I did"

"Evidently not enough." You interrupted him. You turned away, bringing a hand up to stifle your cries. He moved forward to comfort you but you took a step back.

"It was a mistake, I didn't mean to! Honestly!" you could see the tears now gathering in his eyes.

"Isn't that what they all say?" you muttered, before heading home, wishing you believed him.
