Sunday. December 31, 2023.

Yoongi's mother pulls into Namjoon's driveway. "You going to be okay? I know you don't like fireworks." She asked and the blonde boy nods his head. "Namjoon knows. I will just stay in the house and watch from the window." His mom parks the car and he grabs his backpack from the backseat. "Well, have fun baby." She says, ruffling his hair. He nods and gets out of the car.

Yoongi walks up to the front porch and knocks on the door. After a few minutes, Namjoon's mom answers the door. "Yoongi! Hi." She says and opens the door wider for him to walk in. Yoongi waves a little with a smile She waves at Yoongi's mom as she drives away. "The boys are upstairs in Namjoon's room." Yoongi smiles more at her. "Thank you for having me over again." Yoongi says quietly.

Namjoon told his parents about Yoongi not really talking but just told them that he was shy.

Namjoon's mom smiles and nods her head. "No problem at all. I will call you guys when dinner is ready." She says and Yoongi nods, making his way upstairs. Yoongi hears the rambunctious boys in Namjoon's room and starts to smile, ready to have fun.

Yoongi opens the door and everybody looks and smiles at him. "Yoongi!" Jimin and Jungkook yell at the same time. This makes Yoongi smile more. "Took you long enough." Hoseok smiles at Yoongi, receiving a playing eye roll from Yoongi. "We were about to start playing the game without you." Taehyung says, getting up to turn it on.

"Now that you are here, we can make fun of Jimin together!" Jin says and Yoongi laughs dropping his backpack onto the floor and going to join Hoseok on the couch. "Always good to see you grandpa." Namjoon says, who sits next to Hoseok. Everyone else sits on the bed.

"After this, we are going to eat dinner, then hangout in the basement until midnight and then we are going outside for fireworks." Namjoon explains and Yoongi nods. Jimin, Jungkook, Taehyung, and Jin start to play the game and Namjoon watch them. "They told me you don't like fireworks so I volunteered to stay inside with you." Hobi says and Yoongi shakes his head. "You don't have to, I promise it's okay."

"I don't like fireworks either. I'm telling the truth, not just saying that to make you feel better." Hoseok says and Yoongi smiles a little, nodding.

It's about 11:35 at night. The boys are still hanging out in the basement. They had already eaten dinner and had snacks that Namjoon's mom provided. Namjoon, Jungkook, and Seokjin all played a game of darts. Jimin and Taehyung play are playing air hockey and Yoongi and Hoseok are playing a game of pool.

They are all carrying a conversation about school and how they have to go get their schedules closer to when school starts back up. Seokjin could possibly have a class together with Hobi and Yoongi, Hobi and Gigi being in their 3rd year and Jin being in his last. Namjoon could possibly have a class with everyone being in his 2nd year and the rest of the boys being in their first year. They only had a few classes together but they are hoping that changes this year.

"I hope Kino is in one of my classes." Taehyung says with a sigh. "Who is Kino?" Jungkook asked. "Lee Kino?" Jimin asked and Taehyung nods. "Oh no," Jin groans. "He got to her too." Jimin rolls his eyes and shakes his head. "Me and her are actually kind of close. I just see her as a little sister mostly." "Well, Taehyung won't ask her out anyways so there really isn't a point." Hoseok says.

"She has been acting like she likes someone recently. Maybe it's you." Jimin points to Tae. "Doubt that." He sighs. "I think you should just tell her. The worst she can say is no." Namjoon says. Yoongi laughs a little, "Not to be that person, but there are far worse things she could say." Everyone just looks over at him. "What? It's better to be honest than get his hopes up."

"I would honestly rather get my hopes up." Taehyung says, serving the air hockey puck. "Then you are just going to get your feelings hurt for no reason." Namjoon throws a dart. "And nobody likes getting their feelings hurt." Hoseok says, hitting the cue ball. "Of course nobody likes getting their feelings hurt." Jimin says. "Hey, we don't kink shame in this house." Jin says, making the boys laugh.

After their games end, they all make their way to the couch to watch tv. They talk amongst themselves before Namjoon's father calls out, "Boys! It's almost time for fireworks." Jin, Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook jump up to run upstairs. Namjoon looks over at Hoba and Yoongi.

"You guys can go up to my room and watch from my window if you want." He says and they both nod, walking upstairs.

When they reach Namjoon's room. Hoseok moves two bean bags over to the window. They both sit on the bean bags and stare outside of the window. Namjoon's dad sets up the fireworks to get ready for midnight. They boys sit in a group with Namjoon's sister and mom, talking about whatever. They are all wrapped up in their jackets, scarfs, beanies, and gloves.

"Thank god we are in here away from the cold." Hoseok is the first to say something. "Yeah, though it's still cold in here." Hoseok looks over his shoulder and grab a throw blanket that is on Namjoon's bed. He spreads it out for him and Yoongi to share. Hobi has to scoot closer to Yoongi so they can both fit under the blanket. "Thanks." Yoongi blushes. Hobi smiles.

"Do you have any new year's resolution?" Hobi asked, pushing his glasses up to his face. Yoongi nods. "I want to understand feeling my emotions more. I don't really feel anything and that kind of sucks, you know." Hoseok nods. "I want to learn how to not let people walk all over me anymore." Hobi responds. Yoongi nods. "That too. I hope my therapist helps with that."

"I think she will." Hoseok responds. Yoongi checks his phone to look at the time. "12:58. You got any last minute 2023 wishes for 2024?" He asked Hobi and Hoseok shakes his head. "I think I will end this year off right. This has been the best/worst year of my life." Yoongi laughs a little. "What makes it the best?" Yoongi asked.

"Well, I made some great friends and I accidentally texted a boy I didn't know I would start having feelings for." Yoongi smiles at Hoseok. They hear everyone outside start to count down from 10. Yoongi lays his head on Hoseok's shoulder and Hobi puts his arm around Yoongi. "Happy New Year!" Everyone outside yells. Namjoon's dad lights the fire works and it shoots off into the sky, letting out purple sparkles and a loud boom. Yoongi jumps at the sound and that makes Hobi giggle, pulling him a little closer.

"Happy New Year Yoonie." Hoseok says softly. Yoongi smiles. "Happy New Year Hoba. I'm glad it's starting with you." Hoseok stomach fills with butterflies, and he rests his head on Yoongi's. "Me too."
