Never felt like this before - Leah Williamson

Call up

October 2021

Olivia's POV
During this week we got told that we could get our call ups for the Euro qualifiers. I've only been to camp two times with the senior team but never made my senior debut, which in part I understand because my position is a very competitive spot and well it's hard to get play time as so many good players can occupy my position.

I'm not getting my hopes up of potentially being called up and maybe making my debut since there's a new manager, Sarina Wiegman. I know Leah will 100% get that call, whereas I'm not sure I'll get it, I haven't played in Arsenal that much so there's not a lot that she could've saw about how I play, so yeah I'm just trying to not think about it at all.

I was now on my way to pick up Leah to go training, my music was on and I was just enjoying myself, I like driving and when I get bored or I want to think I just grab my car keys and drive around, it calms me down when I'm overwhelmed. After 10 minutes I arrives at Leah's.

Liv <3 - Hey, I'm here

Leah <3 - Coming

Shortly after Leah was making her way to the car and getting in, we greeted each other and she gave me a peck on the lips.

"Hey, how are you?" I ask.

"good now that I'm with you" Leah says and makes me blush. "Ohh, you're blushing Olivia". Leah laughs at me.

"yeah yeah" I roll my eyes at her " ready for today's training?"I ask trying to change the subject.

"Mhm, I'm surprised that my body isn't achy after that match against Chelsea". Leah comments.

"Well hope it continues like this after training, I think today we'll be doing some gym and some tests but at the end we'll do recovery. " I say.

We soon arrive at the training grounds, we both head to the changing rooms and there we meet the rest of our teammates.

As we were now going to the pitch Leah spots Kim and Lia and goes with them while Katie comes to me.

"Hey, how are you?" she asks while putting her arm around my shoulders.

"Good, you?" I ask the same

"Great, I've been called up for this camp, I got the call right before coming here" Katie says.

"That's great news Katie!!" I smile at her and hug her.

"Yeah, what about you? Have they called you up?" She asks, but I shake my head.

"No, but it's okay, I mean the manager has changed and I haven't been that much here at Arsenal and... well I don't want to get my hopes up basically." I say looking at the ground.

"Hey, I get it Olivia, I mean I think you deserve the call up, your vision on the pitch is amazing but it's still early in the season so if you don't get the call up, you'll get it next time" Katie tells me.

"Thank you Katie I really appreciate it" I say.

"I'm always here" Katie smiles at me and we both join the rest of the team to start training.

Training was now finished and we all went to the recorey room to end our day. Before I went there, I wanted to grab some things from the changing room. Once I was there, I went to my cubicle and look for my trainers, just as I found them I heard the door closing which made me tense up since I thought everyone else was already at recovery. Though I ignore it and continue with my things,but then I heard steps coming from behind me and I stop my actions. Who the fuck is in here? I turned around...

"AAH! LEAH! Oh my god you scared the shit out of me!" I scream.

"Hahaha sorry my love, it's just that I didn't know where you were"

"I was just grabbing some thing for recovery"

"Okay, well now that you've got them , shall we go?" She asks.

"Uh yeah, let's go" I start heading to the door but as I pass by Leah's side she stops me by putting her arm around my waist and pulling me to her body. Our faces now very close to each other.

"I also wanted something" Leah starts.

"Oh, and what's that?" I say and look at her eyes and then at her lips, Leah doing the same, and without hesitation she leans in for a kiss. At first it was a peck though it went on and it ended as a full make out session till I put an end it to it.

"Leah- we- need- to- go- now-" I say between kisses.

"I know, just one more"

We then both head to recovery and finish our session not long after.

Leah and I were now going to my place which was something regular now. We would always watch a movie or just cuddle in the sofa, nothing interesting really.

During the journey I could feel a slight tension and from her part and I may have an idea of why. So I decided to brought it up.

"So what do you think about having a new manager?" I ask her. And I watch as she opens her mouth a little and observe how she's trying to say anything without making it obvious that she's been called up.

"Uhm... it's good, she won the las Euros with the Netherlands so... she must be good. What do you think?" Leah asks

"I think she'll make major changes, but not in the team just in the style of play" I say, and then we go both silent, the tension still there, Leah won't tell me that she's been called up but I really don't mind, I'm proud of her and I want her to know it. We soon arrive at my place and we both get off the car.

As I open the door I head to the kitchen with Leah following me.

"Want anything to drink?" I ask

"Uh, yeah a glass of water please"

I pour some water on a glass and give it to her. I was standing in front of her but in the other side of the kitchen isle. I was debating if I should tell her that I know she's been called up, I mean not 100% just 95%,  but communication is key to a relationship so I bring it.

"Leah" I start

"Yeah?" she says without making eye contact

"Look at me" I tell her, though she doesn't do it, so I go round the isle and turn her chair around, I then position myself between her legs and grab gently her face for her to look at me. "You know I'm proud of you, right? I'll always be proud of you, don't ever doubt it" I tell her and sigh looking down. "Leah I know you've been called up and if not, you will be. You don't need to avoid telling me, as I said before it makes me proud of you, so don't need to hide it okay?" She nods and just hugs me without saying anything, but you know, actions speak louder than words.

As she pulls away I look at her and smile which she reciprocates.

"I love you Olivia" she says.

"I love you too Leah"
