The morning light filtered through the curtains of Sanam's grand living room, casting a soft glow on the chaos of emotions that still lingered from the previous day. Kahini stepped down from stairs, her steps heavy with the weight of the night's struggles. She found Faraz seated at the dining table, engrossed in his laptop. The sight of him, focused and alone, seemed to echo the quiet tension that filled the room.

"Good morning," Kahini said awkwardly, her voice carrying a note of uncertainty.

Faraz looked up, his face softening with a warm, if somewhat strained, smile. "Oh, good morning, Aunty, come sit." he replied, closing his laptop with a gentle snap.

"Actually, I couldn't find the guest room, so I came here," Kahini admitted, her eyes darting around as if searching for some semblance of normalcy.

"It's okay. I'll show you later. How's Ammi? Is she sleeping?" Faraz's concern was evident, his eyes searching for any sign of good news.

"Yeah... she's better now, but it would be good to call a doctor. She's exhausted herself mentally and physically," Kahini suggested, her voice tinged with worry.

"I'll call her doctor," Faraz said, and just then, the staff arrived, placing a steaming cup of coffee in front of him.

"Please make one tea for Aunty," Faraz instructed the staff, who nodded and left. He turned back to Kahini, noting the strain on her face. She looked drained, her shoulders slumped in a silent testament to her emotional fatigue. Faraz's heart ached seeing her in such a state, a stark contrast to the strength she had shown while comforting Sanam.

He reached out, squeezing her hand gently. "And how are you? Are you okay?"

Kahini felt a wave of emotion threaten to overwhelm her. She fought to hold it back, She forced a smile. "I'll be fine."

Faraz didn't press further, but his concerned nod spoke volumes. Kahini's eyes lingered on him, observing  him carefully. It was clear he knows her well, and she decided to voice a question that had been on her mind since the previous day. Fear gripped her thinking about how she and Sanam had both worried about how to explain their relationship to the children.

"Since... since when you... know about me?" Kahini asked hesitantly, her voice trembling slightly.

Faraz had anticipated this question and knew it was a sensitive topic for both him and his mother. "Little less than a year now," he said slowly. The revelation shocked Kahini, her eyes widening in surprise and disbelief. She felt a wave of confusion and a pang of vulnerability wash over her.

Faraz noticed her reaction and continued, "I had a hunch for months that she has someone in her life. I'd seen her on the phone and sometimes on video calls at odd hours. But I didn't know who is the person then one day I saw you on the screen. A woman."

Kahini's mind raced as she processed Faraz's words, her emotions swirling in a chaotic mix of shock and fear.

"And you were fine with it?" Kahini asked, her voice filled with a hint of tension.

"Honestly, no," Faraz admitted. The honesty in his voice made Kahini's heart sink a little, her fears of rejection resurfacing.

"Not at first. I was really confused and a bit in denial. But then I decided to looked into you, and find out who you really are," Faraz added, his tone softening and had faint smile one his lips.
