Derek and Meredith took Tuesday off, just them and Aubrie. Then Wednesday came along, and they both had to go back to work.
"So, let me see it." Cristina said as she walked up to Meredith in the locker room. Meredith showed it to her, and loved showing it off.
"It's... big." She said.
"It's perfect. Not too little not to big. I love it."
"You know, everyone watched it right? Alex, Iz and I were on call and the game was on in literally every single room in this hospital. Shepherd wasn't joking around when he said he had something special planned for the game"
"No he wasn't. He took me completely by surprise. But, it was very cute and thoughtful."
"Have you made any decisions yet?" Cristina asked as we left the locker room and started walking down the hall to get our assignments for the day.
"Nope. I mean we kinda talked about a date. We talked about July, 7 months seems like enough time. But besides that nothing."
The 2 of them got their assignments and went on to work their shifts in their prospective departments. Meredith was on Sloan's service yet again, Cristina was on cardio, George was on general, Izzie on peds and Alex on neuro.

Later that night, Meredith and Derek were at home cleaning up after dinner.
"What do you think about July 3rd?" Derek asked Meredith.
"Why July 3rd?"
"It just seems like a good day, ya know?"
"That is very very random. But I like it."
"Well, one decision down many many more to go."
"Also, while we're on that topic, can we keep it to just really close friends and family? Like I'm thinking around 250, I know with you knowing everyone with a heartbeat it could be like 700 if we really wanted it, but I like the idea of a smaller wedding." Meredith said to Derek.
"Well, you're right about me knowing everyone with a heartbeat, but yeah we can try to keep it as small as possible. I know you're not into the big extravagant thing, so anything you want." He said with a smile.
"You're just saying that to make me happy."
"Ah. That I am."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few weeks later Meredith enlisted the help of 4 girls to help her pick out her wedding dress. Her mother, Izzie, Cristina and Derek's sister Amelia. The 4 women she was closest to. Amelia and Meredith have gotten to know each other in the few weeks that Amelia had been in Seattle since getting hired to work under Derek.
"Do you know what you want in a dress?" Izzie asked as they walked into the wedding dress shop.
"I mean nothing to frilly and fluffy. But other than that, no. I never had a reason to think about it." Meredith replied. "Okay, so basically I was all 4 of you to go pick out 1 dress that you think screams Meredith Grey, and bring it to me and i'll try it on for you and I get to judge it."
"Sounds good." They all replied before running off to search the racks for the perfect dress, along Meredith.
About a half hour later, everyone met up and had the "perfect" dress for Meredith.
"Can I help you with something?" The owner of the dress shop asked as she approached the 5 of them.
"Um, just someone to help me with these dresses." Meredith said having all 5 of the dresses draped over her arm.
A few minutes later a lady approached Meredith and took the dresses and brought her to a room.
"So when's the big day?" The lady asked.
"July 3rd of this year." Meredith responded.
"Oh that's nice. Okay, I have to ask, how did your fiance afford a gorgeous ring like that one?"
"Oh" Meredith laughed. "He's a surgeon so he saved a dime or 2 to get this one."
"Oh nice. What about you?"
"I'm a surgeon too, well surgical intern."
"Oh... nice." The lady responded. "Okay how do you like this one?"
"It's... sparkly." Meredith replied.
The two walked out to show everyone the dress.
"Izzie Stevens this had to be your doing." Meredith said as she stepped in front of the mirror.
"Mer, it's cute."
"But, it's not the dress that was made for me. Sorry Iz."
With that they walked back in, every dress Meredith turned down, including her own which looked flawless on the rack but she was not impressed with the way it looked on her. The dress consultant went back to the racks and brought a stunning dress back to Meredith.
"So, I know you said you didn't really like frilly, but I personally think this will compliment you beautifully and it would flatter you really amazingly." The lady said as she slipped Meredith into a beautiful ballgown dress with a little beading at the top and at the top of the skirt, with a longer train and a lot of frills and fluff at the bottom.
"I love it." Meredith said with a smile on her face. "I kinda don't wanna go out and show them. Let them be surprised in July."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
About 4 months past since Meredith picked out her dress in January. All the last minute decision were being made, the little things, like decorations and the cake, things like that. Meredith was just ending her intern year and was trying to plan her wedding and trying to study for her intern exam which was no simple task. Derek helped anyway he could, but usually Meredith would just put him on Aubrie control. Her intern exam was just a day away, and it's safe to say she was stressing out... a lot.
"Derek." Meredith yelled out from the kitchen where she was studying.
"What can I do for ya?" Derek asked as he walked down the stairs holding Aubrie.
"Give me my kid. I need a break i'm going crazy." Meredith said as she reached out for Aubrie and sat on the floor with her.
A few minutes later, Derek was sitting next to her and he was watching her snuggle and pass the little ball Aubrie had.
"You know, I kinda want another one." Meredith said.
"Oh you do?" Derek asked.
"I mean not right now, but in the near future yes. She's getting so big and I just need another one. Why don't you?"
"I mean of course I do. I want a whole long life with you filled with kids, running around in the house in the woods, maybe have a dog, spend the summers swimming in the pool, I want it all Mer."
"Well, i'm very glad that we are on the same page then." Meredith said with a smile.
"Me too." Derek said with a smile back.
