"Meredith." Derek said as he woke up in the morning. He found that she wasn't next to him.
Derek got up and walked into Noah's nursery thinking that maybe she got up and went in there, but she didn't. Derek found Meredith in Aubrie's room, laying in her bed with her. Meredith was out. She was snuggled up with Aubrie in her arms and Derek couldn't just wake them up and ruin that moment.
Meredith and Derek both had the day off. Derek was on call just in case he was needed for any cases, but he wasn't intending on going in. The neurosurgeon that came from Mercy West was capable of handling anything that came in.
Noah woke up around 7:00 and started to cry waiting for someone to get him. Derek reacted in a timely matter, so that Meredith could stay asleep and so that Aubrie didn't wake up from the noise. Derek went down to make breakfast for Aubrie, who was bound to wake up at basically any moment, and breakfast for Noah and Meredith but usually Meredith would just eat fruit and yogurt and Noah would eat off of whatever Meredith didn't eat.
"Alright, little man." Derek said as he set Noah down in his highchair and handed him a small toy to keep him busy. "We're gonna make your mom and your sister some breakfast."
20 minutes later, Derek was done with breakfast. He didn't dare wake up Meredith and Aubrie yet. But around 5 minutes after Derek was done making breakfast, Meredith and Aubrie walked down the stairs.
"Good morning." Meredith said as she walked down the stairs with Aubrie.
"Good morning, sunshine." Derek said. "Breakfast is on the table for you and Aubrie."
"Well, didn't you go all out this morning." Meredith said as she walked in and kissed the top of Noah's head. "I guess I owe you now, huh?" She asked.
"Uh.. yeah." Derek said with a laugh. "I actually have something to tell you."
"What's up?" Meredith asked as she sat down next to Noah's highchair and handed him a blueberry off her plate.
"My family's coming for thanksgiving." Derek said.
"Your what?" Meredith asked.
"My mom called and asked if she minded if my sisters and her came here for Thanksgiving, and I said yes. Mainly because my mother and sisters want to meet Noah since we've basically kept him away from them for this long." Derek said.
"Look, I love your mother and everything but I really don't want to have to go the extra mile this year and make a feast for all of them." Meredith said.
"You owe me." Derek said with a smile. "My mom will probably end up cooking everything anyways because that's just how she is."
"Well, I guess I can't say no. We might as well invite the rest of the family now." Meredith said.
"The rest of the family?" Derek asked.
"Cristina, Owen, Alex, Izzie, Lexie, Mark.." Meredith said.
"Well.. that's all your call. But Mom and my sisters are coming in 2 days." Derek said.
Two days had past. Derek picked his mom and sisters up at the airport after work, and Meredith was at home frantically cleaning, even though there was very little mess. She stressed about mothers and sisters. They're very judgy.
Derek and his mom and sisters arrived at the house, Meredith was on the couch, holding Noah while she watched Aubrie play on the floor with her dolls.
"Hey." Derek said as he walked through the front door with about 900 bags in his hands.
"Hey." Meredith said as she picked up Noah and walked towards the front door.
