The One With The New Family Member

AN: Time jump after time jump.. I know. Don't hate me. Here we go. Time jump is 3 months. I hope you guys enjoyyyyy. (It's kinda crazy.)

"I don't wanna find out." Meredith said insistently while talking to Derek while getting ready for the day in the morning.

"You say that now but in 2 weeks that's all you're going to want to know whether it's a boy or a girl." Derek replied.

"I want the surprise of it all. The element of surprise is what I live for." Meredith said. "I also had that dream that we had a girl and I wanna wait and see if I was right."

"Whatever you want, my dear." Derek said.

"Good answer." Meredith said as she left their room to go and wake up the kids and get them ready for the day.

As the day went on, Meredith worked in the neuro department alongside Derek and Lexie. Meredith and Lexie were pretty much joined at the hip, so wherever Lexie went, Meredith went as well.

"Did you hear about the new trauma guy?" Lexie asked Meredith and Derek as they were walking in the hallway to go to the MRI hallway.

"Oh, yeah Dr. Hoellein." Derek said. "We met in the lounge this morning."

"He seems like a nice guy. Mark was talking about him earlier." Lexie said.

"We needed a new trauma guy? Owen wasn't enough for them." Meredith asked.

"Clearly not." Derek said.

Later on that day, Meredith got to meet Dr. Hoellein for the first time at lunch.

"I invited the new doctor to sit with us at lunch today." Derek said to Meredith, who was sitting next to him at the table.

"Yay." Meredith said sarcastically.

"Be happy, how did you feel when it was your first day and you only knew me." Derek said.

"Okay, got me there." Meredith replied.

"Dr. Shepherd." Dr. Hoellein said as he sat down in the chair that was in front of Derek.

"Dr. Hoellein." Derek said.

"Call me John." Dr. Hollein said.

"John, this is my wife, Dr. Grey-Shepherd." Derek introduced Meredith.

"Meredith." She said as she reached out to shake his hand.

"Derek told me a lot about you this morning." John said to Meredith.

"Only good things, I hope." Meredith replied back to him.

"Yes. He told me you guys were expecting a new baby come October, congratulations." John said.

"Thank you." Meredith replied. "So where did you come from?" Meredith asked.

"A little town north of Boston. I worked at a small hospital and then moved to Seattle about a year ago, picked up a random job and hoped for the best. I saw a job offer for a trauma surgeon and I jumped. Tending bars just wasn't cutting it anymore." He replied.

"I'm actually from Boston." Meredith said.

"Yeah, i'm familiar with you." John said. "Well i'm familiar with your mother."

Meredith laughed.

"Who isn't." She said. "The infamous Dr. Grey."

"Your mother is a legend in the surgical industry." John said.

The conversation continued on and Meredith and Derek both ended up getting a 911 page for their patient in the ICU which cut their lunch break short.
