Kayla: "Hey girly! The wedding shower starts at 2, but if you could come at 11 to help we would really appreciate it!"

Me: "Okay I will be there."

The venue they are throwing the wedding shower at is one I have been to many times. I know the owner Lucy and we work really well together. So when I walked into the front lobby she was a little surprised to see me. "Kacey, what are you doing here? I didn't know you were planning this party."

I hug her like I normally do, giggling. "Oh I'm not. I'm just helping, but I am planning the brides wedding."

"I was going to say, it's a mad house in there. I don't think they had a good game plan." She whispers not waiting anyone to hear.

Hearing her say that made the nausea in my stomach that has been there all morning feel worse. I didn't sleep well with my mind was running a thousand miles an hour. I just have a bad feel like something is going to happen.

"Well I better get in there and see if I can make things happen, it was so nice to see you again." I squeeze her elbow and walk past her."Good luck!" she calls back before walking out the front door.

I know Rose will be here so things won't be that awkward. I just want Kayla to enjoy her day and celebrate. When I walk into the large room there are decorations everywhere still in the packages. Lucy wasn't lying there is no order at all. It's making my inner planner itching to come out, but this isn't my party and I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

Rose is the first to see me "Kacey honey, I'm so happy to see you!" She always makes me feel welcomed. She wraps me up in hug, before leading me to the small blonde blowing up the balloons in the corner.

"Kacey, this is Brittany. Kayla's best friend and maid of honor. Brittany, this is Kacey. She is the wedding coordinator and Bubs girlfriend." My whole body cringed when she said Bubs. I don't like calling him that and he doesn't want me to.

Brittany's face went from soft and bight to dark with an edge. Her eyes narrowed on Roses arm still around me. She didn't seem to notice so I just decided to ignore it. I spoke first to ease the tension. "It's nice to meet you."

Her lips curled in to one of those smiles you see when the villain comes up with their evil plan. "Oh it's so nice to meet you too." Her voice was dripping in sarcasm making a chill run down my spine. I smile back trying to be polite.

"So what can I help with?" I look to Rose, her being my scours of comfort in the presence of the ice queen. "You can-"she started but Brittany loudly spoke over her.

"You can start gathering the trash from wrappers then come to me after you are done and I will give you another task. This is my party." I look at Rose and she gives me a small smile but rolls her eyes. Obviously trying to keep the peace with the queen bee, doing a horribly job making a balloon arch.

So far I have picked up trash, moved boxes to the back hallway, now I'm picking up the tiny pieces of balloon that where popped while making the arch. Rose has tried to get my help with the center piece and the food tables. But every time Brittany yells for me to do something else. I know she is having me do these silly jobs just to show me who is boss; I mean she is the host, but there is a way to direct people nicely.

Rose is quickly losing her patience though so I'm going to keep smiling. Letting her know that I'm okay. She keeps getting text messages mostly ignoring them, but when her phone rings she goes outside to accept it.

"So you are dating Bub? I'm surprised I thought blondes were his type. I mean we did date for years." Brittany drops her nice girl act, narrowing her eyes again. She runs her hand through her hair trying to make a mmm point. Trent said she was a lot to handle and I think that was an understatement.
