Today is the big day, Kayla and Alex are finally getting married. After dinner with my family last night, we went to Kacey's place. I figure she would want to be in her own space to get ready this morning. After feeling on edge all evening being around Brittany I wasn't ready to be separated from Kacey. That's not true I never want to separate from her. I wasn't kidding when I said that being with her is like being home. I couldn't ask for a more loving hardworking woman to be by myside.
She handles everything with such grace. She never raised her voice when directing us. Reassured Kayla that it was all going to work out when she was freaking out. But when she looked Brittany in the eye and said that I actually wanted to touch her, I don't think I could have loved her more.
Kacey being the perfect woman she is took care of getting my suit pressed and has it hanging in the closet wait for me to get ready at the venue with the rest of groom's men. Which I'm thankful for, I don't want to be in that thing longer then I have to.
As I walk back to the bedroom with Kacey's cup of tea she has every morning. I can hear her singing to the music she has playing softly in the background. I can see us having more morning like this, taking care of each other.I step into her room catching her eyes in the mirror. "Baby should I wear my hair up or down?" She asks as she watches me come closer. I set her tea down and brush she hair to one shoulder.
"I like your hair down, but you do what is going to be the most comfortable for you." I say as I kiss up her neck, leaving a trail of goose bumps. She smells like vanilla and brown sugar today. Making her all the sweeter. "That's what I was thinking." She says with a soft giggle. I turn her to me using my thumb and for finger to hold her chin. "I can't wait to see your dress, you haven't let me see it and it's driving me insane." She smiles at me with a wink. She knows she has been teasing me with it, she said she picked it out with me in mind. "Well let me finish my hair then I will end your torcher" With a quick kiss and push on my chest I was out the door to wait for her in the living room.
I heard her door open and her footsteps approaching. Making my excitement sky rocket. As she struts in front of me, my jaw hits the floor. Kacey is beautiful in anything she wears but this sapphire blue dress gives her an angelic look. It isn't to tight but enough to show off her curves, making my hands itch to touch her. "Wow, you look incredible Sweetness."
I grab her hand has I reach her and left it above her head wanting her to give me a spin. She grants my wordless request, with a soft blush on her cheeks.
I groan throwing my head back. "How am I going to keep from touching you all night? Please tell me you won't be too busy for at least one dance with me." Pulling me closer to her bring us chest to chest. "I think I can make that work." I take advantage of our closeness and kiss her. She threads her finger in my hair, sending shivers up my spine. I back her against the wall resting my hand around her throat. She effortlessly follows my lead taking only what she is given. I break the kiss resting my head on her shoulder with deep breaths. I know she wants to be the first one there today so I need to end this before I get to carried away."Okay we need to get going if we are going to beat Mom and Dad there." I say giving her one last peck.
"Okay Baby"
Kacey has been full speed ahead since we arrived. Helping the caters set up and showing where the bakery can set the cake. She has come by to make sure we were getting ready; showing us a timeline she made very clear we are to follow.
I'm standing outside the bride's room waiting on mom to come out. I needed help with my tie. She steps out only opening the door wide enough to slip through. "Sorry Bub I was help Kayla lace up her dress. Do you need help with your tie?" She knows me so. "Yes please"
I know this an emotional day for everyone so I'm glad to have a moment alone with her. "How are you doing Mom?" Her eyes are little glassy, but she still has a smile on her face. "I'm so happy for your sister. This is a day she will never forget." She pauses for a minute to collect herself. "I have a feeling it won't be long and it will be you tying the knot." I imagine Kacey and me picking out a venue, and flowers. Waiting for her to walk down the aisle in a white dress. "I sure hope so." Is all I can say, desperately meaning every word. She finishes with my tie and pats me on the cheek. "I love you Bub, I will see you out there.""Love you too Mom."
I walk back to the groom's suite and all the guys are finishing up. Alex has been like a kid on a sugar high. Bouncing on the balls of his feet, his face split in half with a wide smile. "You excited brother?" I say with a punch to his arm, it is clear he is I just want to mess with him a little.
"I've never been more excited; I know I'm going to cry I just know it. I already think of Kayla as my wife but to share a last name, it's a dream come true." I smile at him; they are perfect together. "Well let's head out to see your dream walk down that aisle." With that we all cheer hyping him up more.
Outside of we all line up waiting for Kacey to give us the que to walk. I'm admiring her as she talks to the DJ letting him know we are getting ready to start, when I feel a hand slid into the bend of my elbow. Feeling me with dread. Kacey's hands are always cold and soft, seeking warmth from my skin. Brittany's warm and clammy, making me feel like I'm under a wet blanket. I cringe at the feeling.
"You don't have touch me yet." I say shaking her off of me. "Oh come on, you use to love when I touched you. You would basically beg." She says in a whining tone acting like the child she is. "Again that was before I knew you were touching other people too." I grit through my teeth. I wasn't going to let her ruin Kayla's day but I also wasn't going to let her guilt trip me into doing something I didn't want.
"Okay we are getting ready to start remember to smile, and don't rush." Kacey says is a hushed voice. She stops beside me going up in her tippy toes to whisper in my ear. "I love you Baby" with kiss to my cheek she is off to fan out Kayla's train. The music starts drawing my attention from the love of my life. I offer my elbow to Brittany "let's get this over with" I put on my best smile and we follow the others down the aisle. There isn't a dry eye in house has Kayla and Alex vow to love each other through sickness and health. Even Dad whips he eyes as he holds Moms hand. I try to stay in the moment but my eyes wonder back to Kacey who is standing off to the side, with a soft smile on her face and a tissue in her hand.
"I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss your bride." The crowd erupts with cheers as Alex dips Kayla with a kiss. Kacey locks eyes with me clapping her hands. I wink at her making her blush then blows me a kiss. God she is so cute.
Just as we planned I sit beside Brittany as everyone eats and mingles. She hasn't tried to touch me anymore which I'm thankful for. Kacey as been busy making sure none of the food runs out, and keeping everything running smoothly. I make a mental note to make sure she eats something as soon as the speeches are done.
The room falls quiet as Brittany stands to give her speech. "Thank you everyone for joining us today. Kayla and Alex, you are such an amazing couple and I couldn't be happier for you. I have loved being your best friend for all these years but I guess I will share that title now. Here is to many more!" We all toast with laughs and cheers. I really didn't want to say anything but I didn't have the heart to say no. So I stand taking the microphone, trying to pull my thoughts together.
"I don't really have anything prepared so bear with me. Kayla you have become such a lovely woman and I'm lucky to call you my sister. I truly couldn't have pick a better man for you. It is obvious you to have a love most of us dream of. Just like Mom and Dad." I look to them trying not to get choked up. "A love that thanks to you I get to experience." My eyes move to Kacey, my voice cracking. "We all wish you nothing but happiness, love you both."
Once again we all cheer and clap. I hand back the mic to the DJ wanting to get to my girl now with this being done. I don't even make it two steps when a body crashes into me with a force almost knocking me over. I feel lips pressed against my teeth, and blonde hair is blocking my vison.
I push the unwanted body off of me. Feeling sick, I look past a sleazy smiling Brittany to Kacey. Her eyes are wide with shock, mouth gapped open. The next second she is running inside the barn before I can get Brittany fully off me. "Kacey please wait."
I push Brittany again wanting to get inside. "Get off me, I don't want anything to do with you. Just because Kayla is your friend doesn't mean we will get back together." I don't wait for her to reply, I push past the crowed praying Kacey is still inside.
