Things have been going smoother than I expected. When I create a timeline for these events, I try to give myself plenty of wiggle room. You never know if the caterer will be late or if there will be a wardrobe malfunction. Thankful everything is going as planned.I figured I would be a little scatter brained today, but spending some quality time with Trent this morning made me feel peace all the way in my bones, making me ready to kill it. Don't even get me started on his reaction to my dress. Feeling he eyes rack up and down my body, made my skin tingle with confidents.
Now that I know the guys are on track, I head to the bride's suite to see if there is anything I can do to help. Normal there isn't much need to ask because the brides family and friends handle everything. Since Kayla and I are close I wouldn't feel right to not offer to help.
All the girls are dress and ready to go. Each having a different style dress, just in the same color. Rose was doing some finishing touches on Kayla's dress.
It fits her perfectly making her look like a model in a bridal magazine. It's a strapless a-line with a beaded boniest and a statin skirt with a fairly long train. It has a very romantic feel. I know it is going to make Alex weak in the knees. "Kayla you are a beautiful bride. Alex isn't going to know how to react." I say as I walk around to get the full view."I know right! I swear if he doesn't cry I'm going to turn around and try again." We all laugh but I know she is one hundred percent serious.
"I'll be right back honey, your bother asked for me." Rose gives her daughter a kiss, looking like she is going to cry any second. If I had to guess he needs help tying his tie. I offered to do it for him before we left home, but he said he had it covered. "Do you need me to do anything?" The only thing she is missing is her vale.
"No, I will help her. Why don't you go check on something else? It is your job to make sure everything is ready." Brittany answers like I was talking to her. I honestly have no clue how Kayla stays her friend, she is exhausting. But I'm not going to let her attitude affect me. So with an over the top smile and my most professional voice I say. "Okay well I will be back when it's time to line up. See you lovely ladies out there." Then leave to check on the guest.
Standing to the side watching Kayla walk down the aisle her arm tucked tightly to her dad's side. I know he is trying hide it behind a smile but we can all see his tears fall as he guides her hand to Alex's awaiting one. Much to Kayla's pleasure I'm sure; Alex was wiping he eyes before the music even started.
I can feel Trent's eyes on me on and off during the ceremony, but I don't dare look because I know if I do we won't break free and our focus needs to be on the newlyweds. As Alex dips Kayla back giving her a kiss making it official, our gaze finally meets. He gives me wink and a smile showing off his dimple. My stomach does a flip, and I blow him a kiss. I know this will be us one day and I have to say I'm counting down the days already.
Everyone was having a great time. The food was a big hit; I even had a couple guest asking for the carters contact information, thankfully they brought plenty of business cards. Normally I wouldn't eat until the end of the evening. But Trent isn't going to let that happen so I make a mental note to get something to eat after the speeches.
Trent really didn't want to give a speech, he said he wasn't good at public speaking. I know him though and he would do anything for his family. So I wasn't worried about him backing out, or saying the wrong thing. Brittany on the other hand was a different story. Her voice comes over the speaker making my ears ring. "Thank you everyone for joining us today. Kayla and Alex, you are such an amazing couple and I couldn't be happier for you. I have loved being your best friend for all these years but I guess I will share that title now. Here is to many more!"
