Three days, that's how long I've been huddled up in my apartment. I've ignored the one call I got from Trent. Well actual I've ignored all my calls and text.  I don't feel like talking.I never thought Trent would talk to me like that. He acted like I was the problem. Completely looked over what was said about me. I thought when I told him he would wrap me on his arms, tell me how wrong she was. That I do make him happy, that I was the only girl he was going to dance with at the wedding. Not that I had no self-respect.

This week is slow so I have been doing all my work from home. Where I can control who sees me and who doesn't. So when I hear a knock at my door, I'm instantly on edge. I'm not ready to talk to Trent. Holding my favorite blanket closer I open my door, readying myself to tell who ever it is to go way. I open the door and standing in front of me isn't Trent, it's my big sister and bright eyed niece.

"Why aren't you answering your phone? And when was the last time you took a shower?" She pushes past me like she owns the place."Please come on in." I say with extra sassy. Which she just ignores, she heads straight to the fridge and grabs a bottle of water balancing Amelia on her hip.

"What are you doing here?"

After taking a small drink she looks at me, the same way she does when the kids do something they shouldn't "Well if you would look at your phone, I have today off. We were wondering if you wanted to get lunch with us." She drops her mom look, starts making faces at a babbling Amelia.

"Sorry I've had a lot going on. I should have checked my phone." I really should have stopped this pity party two days ago.

"What's wrong, is it work or Trent?"

There is no point in not talking about it. She is going to keep asking until I did. "We got into a fight."She has had her far share of fights. Honestly more than anyone should have to. "Go grab a shower then we will get something to eat. We can talk then." I nod my head and do as she says.

When me and my sisters go out to lunch we always go to the same place. The Chinese buffet, that's where our mom would take us sometimes. Now it has become a comforting tradition. Right now I can really use that comfort.  I'm helping Amelia with her noodles when Christy decides she wants to know the story. "So what happened?"

"Well let's just start at the begging. Last Saturday was Kayla's wedding shower. I wasn't planning the party but she asked me to come help her mom and maid of honor. Well I've never met the maid of honor until then. She is Kayla's best friend, their parents are friends, so they have known each other their whole lives. Brittany is also Trent ex."Christy eyebrow shot up, probably thinking the same thing I did when Trent told me. "That interesting, how long did the two of them date?"

"Like five years"

I know there is more to the story as to why they spilt but Trent hasn't told me. Honestly his ex is a topic he avoids. "Before you ask I don't know why they split. He just says they didn't work, but her and Kayla are still close." I can feel the tears building as I get ready to tell her the rest. I shouldn't let it bother me like this, but I can't stop.

"Well from the time I showed up to help, until I left Brittany was nasty to me. Didn't want me to help, had me pick up after her. It honestly didn't bother me, she was hosting the party and she wanted things a certain way.  It was bothering Rose more than me. Then when the party was in full swing, Alex's mom brought up the wedding and her and Kayla complimented me on my hard work. Then Brittany basically said I was only doing all this extra work because I get paid, not because I'm family."

I still don't understand why that is such a problem for some people. Yes, my job is to plan your event that is what I'm paid for. But there had been multiple times I had to do things that weren't my job. Lisa said if you are able to reasonably go above and beyond for someone, they will not only be a repeat client but they will tell others about you. That's just good business.

"What did you say?" Christy knows how I am. She knows if it means I will cause more problem I will keep my mouth shut. Most the time when someone feels the need to make rude comments in front of other, they keep going until the make themselves look foolish.

"I didn't say anything because I didn't think it was necessary. I know why I do extra stuff for people, she can think what she wants. Rose on the other hand said that I was family, then called Brittany out for bailing out on them with wedding prep."

"That was nice of her, what happen after that?" Neither one of us were eating anymore. Amelia had finished her food too. Holding her arms out to her mom to be held. It was getting close to her nap time."Long story short, Brittany said that Trent must not be too happy with me. Because he texted her a couple weeks ago asking her to save him a dance at the wedding. Then said for me not to get comfortable, that he would come back to her."

I could see Christy temper flaring in her ice blue eyes. I know she wasn't going to like that part. "Is that true?"Deep down I knew it wasn't true. Trent has been nothing but honest with me from the begging. He was serious about not wanting to sit with her. "No, she was just making stuff up to make me question myself. I left after that, used your kids as an excuse. Sorry about that."

We both laugh, Kat and me both use that excuse sometimes to get out of uncomfortable situations. Christy doesn't care.

"So why are you and Trent fighting if it isn't true?"

Honestly I have no clue why he talked to me like that, I was clearly upset and he just made me feel worse.  "He was mad I didn't stand up for him or our relationship, then said I didn't have a back bone or self-respect. He didn't even care what she said to me, or that I was embarrassed. So I told him to leave and we haven't talked since."

I can feel tears fall rethinking about what all was said. Should have I said something? I mean I could have called her ajealous, told her to get over herself. Then I would be acting just like her and I don't want to be anything like that.
Christy still isn't saying anything, but I can see the gears turning in her head. "I can see why you didn't say anything, but I agree with him that you should have more of a back bone." I know that. Everyone in the family has said that to me more then once. I just don't know why it hurt so bad when he said it.

"I know."

"I think you need to talk to him, find out why they split. It sounds like he was upset about something more then that. He doesn't seem like the type of guy to belittle someone he loves, because he is mad." She grabs my hand with a loving squeeze.
"Trent doesn't love me; I mean his never said that." Shaking my head, she has been around him twice there is no way she would know that.

"Please Kacey, anyone with eyes can see you two love each other." She scoffs with an eye roll that makes me worry they will get stuck."How would you know you only seen us together twice?" I ask with a giggle. She doesn't even crack a smile this time.
"Because you look at each other like Ethan and I did in the beginning."

My heart breaks for her all over again. She really tried to make it work, but you can only live like that for so long before something breaks. I know there is a guy out there that is going to show her how worthy she is.

It's my turn to squeeze her hand. "I'm sorry." She gives me a half smile. Then wipes her eyes. "Don't be. Are you going to call him?" We are both crying not caring what the people around us think. "Actually will you drop me off at his place."

"Yes, you know I'd really hate to see you let that girl win." She says voice full of hatred.

"Don't worry, I won't"
