Opal's pov
THE BLOOD SPILLING FROM HER chest made me nauseous, but scared.. really fucking scared. Ambia grabbed Bee and dashed between the trees, not looking back at all.
The bullet seemed to kill her the second it penetrated through her chest.
What scared me was the fact I didn't hear the bullet. Was it something that only the supernatural could hear?
"Wait! Wait! MOMMY!!! MOMMY!!" Bee reached out into the air, tears ran down her face along with snot. She looked at me and all I could do was duck my head.
Her crying echoed in the forest, and birds flew out of the trees, revealing our location even more. "Shit shit shit shit!" Ambia cursed, knocking huge tree branches out of the way as she ran.
Moo Moo tried to stick his head out but I closed my satchel fully.
I didn't want him to die.
A bullet flew past us, missing Bee's ear by a few inches.
"They've got silent firearms, we won't know when the bullets are coming forth, I need both of you to be fucking silent! Or we will die!" Ambia whispered yell.
I could barely hear her over my thumping heart. I could feel the sweat dripping down my temples.
"I don't wanna die.." Bee whimpered, grabbing my hand. I gulped harshly, looking behind us for the thousandth time. "You won't die! I promise, just stay quiet and everything will be fine, I promise." I squeezed her hand softly.
"But Mommy promised we were safe."
"I know Bee but-"
A huge explosion caught my attention, smoke, and fire coming from the direction of the facility. The force of the explosion caused Ambia to lose her footing and made all of us tumble down.
Bee went rolling down a hill somewhere and, and..
———
My ears rang horribly, and my head felt heavy, so heavy. I struggled to open my eyes, but I had to... I had to go get Bee.Everything ached, I couldn't seem to feel my toes.
I was no longer tied to Ambia, the rope was around me but I couldn't see her. I couldn't see a thing due to the smoke surrounding me.
I rubbed the side of my head, and something wet coated my fingertips. I pull my hand back to see blood. Had I hit my head on something?
I squinted my eyes and the sight of a big shadow coming my way. My heart dropped and I gripped the dirt in the ground, attempting to stand up.
"AGGHH!" I screamed, falling back to the ground. The stitches in my leg had opened up and blood soaked my sweatpants.
"AMBIA?!"
I looked around for my Satchel.
Moo Moo.
"MOO MOO!! MOO MOO!" I screamed from the top of my lungs. My throat ached and breathing in the smoke caused me to cough.
The blood from my sweatpants leaked into the ground. A hand grabbed my shoulder. It was Ambia, she was carrying Bee who seemed to be passed out.
Before I could say anything she fell into the dirt weakly. "I need you to run, I know you can't, I know— I know your leg hurts but I need you to grab Bee and— and run. Moo Moo is around here somewhere, he's a smart kitty, and he'll find you... b-but shit." She gasped for air as she held her stomach.
I looked between her and the huge shadow that was still approaching us. "What—what do you mean?! I'm not leaving you! We're a team.. we're a fucking team, Ambia!" I gripped her wrist.
I winced at the simple movement I did, everything seemed to hurt.
"No, No.. I got sh-" Blood came from her mouth before she could even finish her sentence. My eyes widened and I crawled towards her.
Tears filled my eyes, she looked so defeated... "No! no.. keep talking! keep talking, please Ambia!" I yelled.
Ambia blinked at me.
A small smile painted her face.
Her hand fell from her stomach and she let out a breath. "I'm tired, kid." Her eyes closed slowly, I could tell she was fighting but failed to stay awake.
Nausea filled me and I fell against her body, a sob wracked through me, and in came the tears. They ran down my face to the ground.
"AMBIA!!! WAKE UP! WE'RE A TEAM!" I shook her but it did nothing, she stayed still. The sound of many leaves being crushed in front of me made me snap my head forward.
The big shadow all along was a green bear. Vines and all sorts of flowers and plants hung from its fur coat. Its eyes glowed a light pink I'd never seen before. It stood in front of me for a while.
It looked back at it.
"GO AWAY! YOU CAN'T HELP ME!"
It stood there, still.
"GO AWAY!" I grabbed a rock, throwing it at the bear.
It stood there.
I covered my face and cried.
Ambia was gone, and Honey was dead. Bee, I wasn't sure if Bee was alive and I've lost Moo Moo my best buddy.
It was all my fault! It was all my fault! If I wasn't hurt, I could've helped them! I clutched my shirt tightly and cried.
"EVERYTHING I HAVE IS GONE, WAS RIPPED AWAY FROM ME! SO WHY DON'T YOU JUST LET ME GRIEVE? GO AWAY!" I screamed, punching the dirt beside me.
The bear didn't get it. It stayed in the same spot, looking at me.
My sobs quieted down and I rested against a large rock, me and the bear stared at each other and I felt my body begin to burn up.
I lifted my head but it fell back down against the rock. I blinked but it felt like an eternity the open my eyes back up.
I looked down at my leg and chuckled.
Losing too much blood.
I was dying.
The last thing I remember seeing was Moo Moo standing beside the bear and a huge reptile figure with wings flying above me.
