Opal's pov

DURING MY RECOVERY CONSTANTINE FOLLOWED me around like a pet hawk, she made sure they kept their hands off of me. When I was able to walk I spent most of my time being taught basic things such as writing, and as embarrassing as it is, the classical phonics. My teacher was a lady about my age, she was nice and very caring towards me.

I felt like she had a knife being stabbed slightly in her back because of the way she was so nice. Maybe it was the fact that either Florian or Ambrose attended every class with me.

They didn't like the thought of leaving anyone with me unless it was Constantine or Salia.

And then it was proper royal etiquette, shoulders down, straight posture, no perfect posture. Chin up, bow, nodding, dancing, talking.

It was so stressful! So very stressful.

So as I sat at dinner I picked at my food. I had no appetite, if anything I was focusing on my posture more than anything, the proper dinner etiquette session played in my head and I began disliking Constantine.

Traditions were her thing and I wanted to respect that wholeheartedly, but how could I remember all of this in time for the ball at Mysthaven?! I stabbed the broccoli in front of me.

Straight back, relaxed shoulders, cloth on lap.

I murmured the words to myself.

I replayed today's session in my head not realizing the odd stares I got from servants and Ambrose and Florian.

"Opal, my little one?"

Chew with my mouth closed, and sauce from the vegetables dribbled down my chin as I chewed. I grabbed the napkin. Dab at your mouth gently, look graceful doing so.

"Lovebug?"

No talking with your mouth full, cut food elegantly, at an angle.. about right there. I cut into the chicken breast.

"Sweet one."

When drinking a beverage you'd like to grab it in a way—-

"Everyone out." Ambrose's voice boomed in the dining area, breaking me out of my thoughts. I blinked at him, a bit shocked by his tone.

"What's..." I looked around the dining room highly confused.

"You've been ignoring us for a great two minutes, sweetheart." Florian furrowed his eyebrows, he seemed worried for some reason.
