Opal's pov

I WAS CHAINED TO A PODIUM, demons were cheering amongst me. I didn't have my wings, instead, I had horns and ashy red skin. I looked around frantically for help but there was no one to seek help from.

"You are the chance, the only chance we have to break the border, child." The same black shadow that attacked me showed up in my face.

It was much clearer, it was demon was skin as black as my hair. He dragged his claws under my chin, drawing blood "N-no." I reply hoarsely.

"Why? Why are you so submissive to those dumb little kings? They hurt us long ago, you're not a fairy... you're one of us. We're family, why don't you realize that?"

"I'm not one of you." I spat. Sweat trickled down my face and I could feel the marks the chains brought along my wrist.

"Take his necklace"

My eyes widened and I felt a surge of energy overcome me.

Before I could do anything I woke up.

I panted heavily, looking around the bedroom as I clutched my shirt with shaking hands. I grabbed the necklace and let out a relieved breath.

I staggered out of bed to take a glance at the looking glass. My wings were still there, and so was my brown complexion. I wiped the sweat off of my forehead and ran my hands through my bedhead.

My stomach let out an unpleasant growl and I winced, looking outside of the window. It was midnight.

I rubbed my tummy, pursing my lips in a line. A small shadow caused me to squeak I gasped at the sight of Moo Moo sitting on the dresser.

He let out a small meow and I picked him up, bringing him to my chest before squeezing him softly. "You've been busy fighting off bad spirits, eh?" Moo Moo only chirped.

I kissed his wet little nose and placed him down. "How about we get a snack? A snack always helps when you have a nightmare." I whispered, opening the door.

The sound of my feet pattering down the hall made me creep up on my tippy toes as I tried to find the kitchen.

I admired the way the candlelight reflected against the walls, it brought a comforting vibe instead of a scary haunted palace.

A few minutes pass and my adventure to the kitchen ends when I'm face to face with the door of the kitchen. I twist the knob carefully and walk in.
