Ambrose's pov
FLORIAN WAS NICE AT HANDLING sudden things, he was exceptionally well at it.
This whole Opal situation stressed me out beginning with the prophecy, the fact that he's half demon and half fairy.
Demons were frowned upon and rightfully so, but we couldn't just banish half of him to hell and leave the other here. Especially if he was our piece to the prophecy.
It made me think about our ex-lover he had tricked everyone into thinking he was a human and his intentions were pure innocence yet he almost caused a war.
I looked at Opal who had his head buried in Florian's lap. We had to calm him down after what Halen and I said, and when he told us about the illusions he had a panic attack, once we calmed him down Florian decided it was best if he rested.
He battled with himself, it was hard for him to calm down. I felt as if it was because he didn't like being dependent on anyone, he probably didn't allow himself help unless it was from Ambia.
He was scared of being vulnerable.
So I watched both of them, and I felt a fondness for Opal form in my heart.
"He's perfect for us." Florian swooned, drawing his hands into Opal's scalp. Florian was sweet but he wouldn't say anything along those lines at all. He was telling the truth.
His eyes scrunched up as he smiled. "I know what you're thinking." I placed a small kiss on his forehead. "You always know what I'm thinking, you have many abilities, and telepathy is one of them." I chuckled lightly.
"Let go."
My jaw went slack for a moment, I tried to find the right words to the simple statement but there wasn't one.
"You're still holding onto the past. This is the present, darling. That demon was no good for us and you know it."
Florian was persistent, when someone so close betrayed us like that he moved on while I stayed in my head about it for a while.
He was always quick to think and act while I had to observe before I even thought of doing anything. "I know Florian. I'm not worried about such things," I took a glance at Opal, his long hair scattered all over Florian's lap. "I'm thinking of the prophecy, I'm convinced he's our missing piece to peace," I admit.
Florian beamed.
"I've been telling you, but you've just got to be a reserved grumpy bear. Our beautiful little Opal here is our missing puzzle piece to the kingdom's safety."
