Opal's pov

MAYBE I SPOKE TOO SOON because standing in front of the elders in the meeting room set me completely off. My wings stopped flapping the second I stepped foot in the room and my necklace glowed displaying my emotion like no other.

Florian had his arm wrapped around my shoulder and Ambrose's arm laid tightly around my waist. Ambrose spoke of things that needed to be done on the elder's side.

The stares made me want to puke even though I didn't have anything in my stomach. Florian whispered the names of the elders in my ears, pointing and speaking as he rubbed my shoulders but my nerves only spiked up more when one elder stood up and slammed his cane against the wooden floor.

"When will we speak about the real problem!? The demon boy here in front of us." I flinched at his harsh words and tucked my head.

I wasn't completely a demon. I knew I wasn't because I'd look like one. I'm not evil like one I'm just different, it's not my choice.

My fingers became clammy and I sucked in the thousandth breath. "Sit down Jerl before I terminate you from the elders committee and host a public execution with your name along it." Florian hissed.

Ambrose gave him an annoyed look and Florian rolled his eyes, clutching tighter to me."Florian, the emotional one. That's why Ambrose is the head leader. We cannot trust such a soft—"

"Do not speak ill of my lovers, if you continue I'll have no choice but to add to your hours of volunteering at the Mysta Institute for the Mental." Ambrose loudly even with such a calm posture.

I felt my nerves calm down a bit and I let out a small breath. Lovers. I felt warm and safe.

He looked down at me and nuzzled his nose against my neck. "Do not let them bother you, these elders are only getting older, and with age, their patience tends to thin" he chuckled quietly.

"They want to rush everything before they croak," Florian said rather loudly causing the elders to become stirred up.

"Such nonsense! We must speak of the boy!"

"How will we have a half-demon in our kingdom? I say we send him—"

"He's a danger!"

I watched the king's jaw clench and Ambrose huffed out fire, I jumped at the abrupt action. It was insanely cool! Actual fire came from him.

"And you're worried, because? He has the necklace containing any power that could peek within, he hasn't told us anything about him having powers, so why does half of him matter so much?"
