Opal's pov
I WOKE UP TO A different doctor? He was pale with longer hair to his back, he had rainbow highlights but his main hair color was white.
I looked down at my arm, it was cleaned of blood and new wires were in my arms. My clothing was changed and I could tell I was well pampered when I was out.
He turned around and smiled sweetly at me.
I gasped lightly, covering my hand over my mouth. It was a unicorn! I bit down on my bottom lip trying to hide my smile. I had always been obsessed with unicorns since I was a child. I've only heard them from books my father read to me or coloring pages I'd color after a competition.
The horn projecting from his forehead made me wiggle my toes in excitement. It looked just like the drawings in the books!
"Hello there, I'm Jesse." He flickered the bags connected to the pole. "Hello!" I blurt out, covering my mouth once more.
Ew! I sounded disgusting.
I couldn't believe I was so giddy over seeing a unicorn. I should be worrying about other things but this was a one-time experience!
He laughed. "I suppose you like unicorns?"
I nodded quickly, clutching the blanket laid out across my lap. "Haha, well that's nice to hear, promise you won't try to hit me with the intravenous pole?"
I ducked my head down, looking at my lap.
"He provoked me."
"Or maybe you're just prone to anger. Many studies have shown that being in a harmful environment and experiencing violence firsthand can cause a mix of emotions and other mental issues. This is why the rehabilitation process is extremely important!" He sat down beside me.
I sucked in a deep breath and exhaled.
"I guess."
"I'm happy you're cooperating with me. So, over the month you've been out we've been trying to get you to gain weight slowly. That's why you're hooked up to the IV. He pointed to the wires. "We vaccinated you from any illnesses that could harm our people here and you're being pumped with vitamins and fluids to regain the strength you've lost in your time in the outside world."
So they've been taking care of me this whole time? Maybe I am the one in wrong here..? But they should've at least approached me with caution.
"Though we don't recommend pushing you out into our world with chores so quickly, our kingdom's therapists and psychiatrists came together and figured it would be a good idea to rehabilitate you while you learn the ropes around here."
