Chapter Nine: Where Two Million Years Have Gone!

"Amazing." The girl states.

"Huh?" Senku asks.

"And I'm not talking about the wisdom of Archi-whatever. What I mean, is how you kept going through every single step until you solved the problem. Your perseverance is amazing. Guess it's time to introduce myself." The girl explains. Hikari moves over to Senku as the girl looks at them.

"My name is Kohaku. And honestly, I believe I've taken quite a liking to you." The girl states and Hikari stares blankly.

"Was that just a love confession?" Hikari asks. Kohaku fixes her hair and Hikari stares blankly.

"Ugh. I can't say that I can give one millimeter of support for what I just heard. We've just met, and you're already professing your love? I'm happily in love with Kari here. Not how to handle an emergency." Senku says at the same time Hikari spoke.

"I didn't say anything about falling in love! I'm saying I like you as a person and I think the three of us can work together!" Kohaku snaps.

"Oh. Well, thanks. I appreciate that." Senku responds, "Cause nothing's as illogical or prone to trouble as a romantic entanglement." Hikari looks at him.

"We're a romantic entanglement." Hikari states.

"And you're trouble. I think I made that clear." Senku responds.

[Later That Night]

Hikari lays in her sleeping bag next to Senku, against the tree. Senku looks back over his shoulder while Hikari looks up. Kohaku was sleeping sitting up with her blades gripped in her hands.

"What are you, a new species of hominid that sleeps with a weapon or something?" Senku asks.

"Makes it obvious I don't have love on the brain. Look, I may be curious about your ways, but I'm not sure how I can trust you two yet. Besides, it's a force of habit, because I watch out for myself, so don't take it personally." Kohaku explains.

"I'm not enough of a hero to attack a lioness like you, so quit wasting time and get some rest." Senku says before reaching out of his sleeping back and pulling Hikari's sleeping bag closer so she'd be warm.

"Lioness?! I am a person! With feelings!" Kohaku snaps, "You might've seemed like a gentleman at first, but I don't see what this girl sees in you, you're actually kinda rude, ya know that?! I'm afraid I might accidentally end up killing him."

"If you just go to sleep, there won't be any accidents." Senku mutters in annoyance, "I'm not too keen on the idea of dying twice in one day. Kari will kill me herself if she has to bring me back to life again."

"You're fighting that long-haired man, aren't you?" Kohaku asks, "I'll help you with that. I'm not the type to just run away with my tail between my legs."

"Yeah. That's why we're setting out to build a Kingdom of Science. But what we need... is manpower first." Senku explains.

"Oh, yeah? So you're lookin' for allies, are ya?" Kohaku asks, "Well, why don't you come along with me?"

"So you've got some more lion buddies? There a whole pride of you somewhere?" Senku asks.

"She'll hit you nearly as hard as Tsukasa, Senku." Hikari tells him gently jerking at one of the strands of hair that hangs in front of his face.

"He's right. I'm sure they would be great allies for the battle. Especially one guy in particular. I'll lead you to 'em, Senku. You just gotta follow me." Kohaku states.

"Ohayou Sekai... GOOD MORNING WORLD!" The earth is shown with the strange light over it from space before the area of Japan is shown. The light flickers across the planet before Senku and Hikari are shown walking together through the forest. "I dunno just how long I have walked... Carried by the blisters on my feet... Whoa!" They pass a tree and Senku is shown in his room as a little kid before he looks up from thinking to find a younger Hikari grinning at him. "Telling the story of this path I've traveled. Crossing through the night that felt so long..." Light Flashes and Yuzuriha is shown standing in the hall at school and she turns to look towards the window. Her eyes widened before a shadow was shown from above. "Dreaming a picture perfect scene WHOA! It has sustained me through my endless battle!" Light flashes and Taiju, Hikari and Senku are shown on the roof. Taiju was stretching, Hikari was laughing and Senku looked bored. Taiju throws his arms up and the sun is shown, causing another light flash. "To the peaks of the heavens... the palace, so lush and green... Rocks caves in the dark depths." Senku is shown with machine parts as he appears to be thinking and Hikari appears before him with a gentle smile on her face. She looks up as her face is shown up close as she gasps and light flashes behind her causing her to vanish. "Horizon's ending! I'll travel through them all! So limitless!" Senku is shown standing in front of Hikari before Tsukasa is shown surrounded by an evil red aura as he walks towards them. Mao is shown reaching for Tsukasa before the wind blows and she vanishes before Tsukasa's glaring face is shown up close before Hikari is shown crying like a ghost. Music plays as Gen is shown with a devious smile while Chiyo and Kimi are shown standing beside one another with smiles on their faces. "To reach the boundaries of the earth!" A pulley system is shown before other devices are made using primitive technology and then the Kingdom of Science flag is lifted up into the air. "OHAYOU SEKAI GOOD MORNING WORLD!" Kohaku is shown flipping around in the air before Asahi, Kinro and Ginro are shown holding out spears while Jade and Cinder high five and giggle. "Clear the darkness of the impossible!" Inside the science lab hut, Chrome, Senku and Hikari are shown standing together. Hikari smiles at Senku as he grinned looking up at her. "Make legends come to life with just a wish on a star! On A Star!" Kaseki is shown working before Ruri is shown with her eyes closed and her hair floating out behind her. Flint is shown bowing before he vanishes. Light Flashes and Suika is shown in a field of flowers. "Guided by the will we've carried all along!" Taiju is shown standing before the stone version of Yuzuriha as he stares at her closely. Light flashes and Hikari is shown standing between Chrome and Senku as the two face opposite directions but Hikari faces forward, touching their shoulders. "Let's go explore the world!" An iron rock is shown exploding into feathers before Senku is shown standing in front of the giant moon and Hikari takes his hand standing beside him. He turns to look at her and the two grin.
