Renjun felt like he could faint any second. All the fears and stress just caught up with him. His head hurt, and he was nauseous and irritated by every little sound. Fifteen minutes ago, he got checked by the medics and since he wasn't that well in terms of his condition, as he had smoke in his lungs and was affected mentally, he was taken to the hospital. There, Renjun could finally relax as Jeno was doing everything for him and Jaemin. The beta wasn't in the best condition either. Since both ended up there, Jeno made it so the two would get a room just for themselves. The alpha was everywhere, talking to the doctors, and stopping the detectives from stepping in as the victims weren't in shape to give statements.

Jeno was panicking. His pheromones raged and he was rather aggressive with the people, shouting at them for no reason. Renjun knew why. Both he and Jaemin were barely responsive. Both looked poorly and when doctors dived between one and the other, Jeno looked at them in horror, perhaps, picturing the scene as if they were on their dead beds. They had masks pumping oxygen, they had weird devices around their beds—it had to be scary. Renjun looked around the room, but his mind was muddled, he was confused by his surroundings. Jaemin had his eyes closed but he kept coughing, giving away he wasn't asleep. No one still knew what actually happened at the house.

Once the doctors left the three alone, Jeno grabbed a chair, pulled it in the middle, and held their hands. Renjun locked his blurry vision on Jeno, slightly squeezed the alpha's hand, and weakly smiled at the latter's attempt to spread calming pheromones. Feeling safe, he fell asleep. He must've slept through his confusing state. If he woke up, he felt Jeno was near and drifted to sleep again.

He woke up when the rays of sunshine became unbearable—it was the middle of the day. Shining right into his eyes they were so annoying that Renjun woke up with a thought to beat up the sun. He calmed down as he saw the blinds were closed and only a little ray was playing on his face. He shifted his sore eyes at Jeno, who now slept on a chair he had put in between their beds, his head lowered. Renjun glanced at Jaemin, finding him in a deep sleep.

Noticing that instead of his clothes Jaemin wore a hospital gown, Renjun looked at his chest, capturing the sight of the same gown too. He knew he was back to himself as his face flushed at the thought of someone changing his clothes. It was most likely Jeno a few seconds later, Renjun spotted their clothes messily lying on the surface of a table. It meant he changed them both while they were asleep.

The omega had enough time to be with his thoughts, so he didn't avoid facing what happened. Staring at the ceiling, he admitted he saw Haewon dying and repeated it in his head until he got nauseous by the sight that was running in his mind like a picture. Then he sat up, as quietly as he could, but Jeno heard the bed creaking and tore his eyes apart.

"Thank God!" Jeno jumped from the chair and shifted closer to the omega. "I want to take this off so badly," he said as he touched Renjun's face but also the mask. "It scares me."

They connected their foreheads and stayed like this for a bit. Then Renjun drew back and asked Jeno to call a nurse.

"I want to go to the bathroom."

"Okay," Jeno nodded. "Stay how you are, I'll get someone."

The alpha left the room and Renjun remained seated. He glanced at Jaemin, then turned his full body at the beta and bent down to reach his hand. Whimpering as he needed a bit more to lean, he shifted at the edge of the bed and started over. With his fingertips, he succeeded in touching the back of Jaemin's hand. The beta's fingers twitched. Renjun raised his eyebrows, believing Jaemin had to be awake.

"Jaeminnie?" he asked softly.

The beta didn't respond. He pretended he wasn't there.

"Are you okay?"
