Bhishma, observed the growing skills and potential of the young princes. He felt the time had come for them to receive formal training in the art of warfare and statecraft.
He sought out Guru Drona, a legendary teacher and warrior, known for his exceptional prowess.
Guru Drona agreed to take on the responsibility but laid down a condition, “The princes must come to my ashram and live as my students. Only then can they truly learn.”
Bhishma understood the gravity of Drona’s words.
He convened a meeting with Dhritarashtra, Gandhari, and Kunti to discuss the matter. “Guru Drona has agreed to train the princes, but they must stay at his ashram as his students. This is a necessary step for their growth.”
Dhritarashtra, though reluctant to send his sons away, recognized the importance of this training. “I agree, Pitamah. If this is what it takes to make them the best, so be it.”
Gandhari and Kunti, though filled with maternal anxiety, also agreed.
Kunti, in particular, understood the value of Drona’s teachings and the unity among her sons.
---
The night before their departure, Kunti called her sons to her chamber.
The room was dimly lit, and an air of solemnity filled the space.
Kunti, her face a mixture of strength and tenderness, gathered her sons close."My dear sons," she began, her voice soft but firm, "tomorrow, you will leave for Guru Drona's ashram. It is not just a place of learning but a place where you will be tested in many ways. Remember this always: your strength lies in your unity. Stand by each other, support each other, and never let anything come between you."
Yudhishthira, responded with calm assurance, "We understand, Mata. We will stay united and uphold our values."
Bhima, said with determination, "I will protect my brothers, Mata. No harm will come to them as long as I am around."
Arjun, deeply affected by the loss of his father and always striving to meet the expectations placed on him, nodded earnestly, "I will do my best to honor our family, Mata. I will make you proud."
The twins, Nakul and Sahadev, held their mother tightly, sensing the gravity of the moment.
Kunti kissed their foreheads, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "Be brave, my sons. Remember, you are the children of great warrior. Your father, watches over you always."
---
The following morning, the princes were ready to depart. The atmosphere was heavy with emotion as Kunti and the other family members gathered to see them off.
Bhishma, with a mixture of pride and sorrow, addressed them, "You are the future of this kingdom. Learn well from Guru Drona. Make us proud."
As the chariots pulled away, Kunti stood watching, her heart filled with both hope and anxiety.
