Bhishma sat in his chamber, deep in thought. The news from his spies weighed heavily on his mind. He called for a soldier and commanded him to bring Vidur to his chambers immediately. The soldier bowed and left to fulfill the order.
Minutes later, Vidur entered the room, sensing the gravity of the situation. Bhishma was not one to summon him so urgently without good reason. Vidur approached and bowed slightly, his eyes scanning Bhishma's face.
"Pitamah, what has happened? Your demeanor tells me something serious is at hand," Vidur said, his voice calm but filled with concern.
Bhishma motioned for the attendants to leave, and once the door was closed behind them, he gestured for Vidur to sit. The room was now completely private, ensuring no one would overhear their conversation.
"Vidur, I have received critical information from my spies," Bhishma began, his tone serious. "A Brahmin has defeated the Gandharva king Angaraparna, and another Brahmin has slain the demon Bakasura. Upon hearing this, I am certain that these 'Brahmins' are none other than the Pandavas."
Vidur’s eyebrows raised in surprise, but he maintained his composure. "You believe they are alive, Pitamah?"
"I do," Bhishma replied, his voice filled with conviction. "These acts—no ordinary Brahmins could perform such feats. They are my grandsons, Vidur. I can feel it in my heart."
Vidur nodded, understanding the importance of the news. "If that is true, Pitamah, then this is indeed joyous news. But what do you intend to do?"
Bhishma straightened his posture, his eyes filled with determination. "I must go to the forest and bring them back to Hastinapur. The time for their exile has come to an end. They must return to claim their rightful place."
Vidur, always the voice of reason, paused for a moment. "Pitamah, I understand your desire, but we must tread carefully. Hastinapur is in a delicate state. Duryodhana and his allies still hold power here. If they discover the Pandavas are alive, they will surely plot against them."
"I am aware of the risks," Bhishma said, his voice steady. "But I cannot leave my grandsons to live in the forest any longer. They belong in this palace. I will leave for the forest and bring them back personally. In the meantime, Vidur, I need you to take care of Hastinapur in my absence. Ensure the city remains stable and do not, under any circumstances, reveal the true reason for my journey. We must keep this secret until the time is right."
