In the kingdom of Panchal, Queen Prishati, Shikandini, and Dhrishtadyumna were shrouded in deep mourning, their hearts heavy with the grief of the presumed loss of the Pandava family. The palace was draped in sorrow, with every corner echoing their despair over Draupadi’s fate.
King Drupada , despite his deep sorrow, clung to a glimmer of hope that somehow, somewhere, the Pandavas might still be alive as he believes in his son-in-law valour. Yet, without any concrete evidence, his hope was a fragile thread, easily overshadowed by the weight of his fears and doubts.
Then a letter arrived from Krishna. As it was read aloud, a glimmer of hope sparked through their tears. Krishna’s message assured them that the Pandavas were alive and safe, offering a fragile yet comforting promise of their eventual return. The letter, though not erasing their pain, gently soothed their anguished hearts and rekindled their hope for a future reunion with their beloved Draupadi.

The Pandava family was gradually adjusting to their life in the forest, though the transition was anything but easy.
One evening, Yudhisthira , Devika, Bhima, valandhara, Arjun and Draupadi made their way to the River Bhageerathi to fetch water. As twilight began to fall, women led the way, carrying a pot in their hands. The air was cool, the sound of the river flowing soothingly in the background.
As Draupadi approached the water’s edge, a loud, angry voice broke the peace. "Who dares to disturb the waters at this hour?" The voice belonged to Chitraratha, the Gandharva chief, who was traveling in his aerial chariot with his two wives. They had descended to the river for a bath, and now, seeing a human woman at the sacred waters, Chitraratha’s temper flared.
Draupadi froze, the pot slipping from her hands as she looked up at the furious Gandharva. Fear gripped her, but before she could react, Arjun was at her side in an instant. His presence was like a shield, strong and unyielding, as he positioned himself between Draupadi and the angry Gandharva.
"How dare you shout at my wife!" Arjun’s voice was sharp, his eyes blazing with protective anger. "These waters belong to all creatures, including humans. You have no right to threaten her."
