During gym, Lorena and Arian swung from different building structures one after the other, dodging the water geysers. Just as the former was about to spring until the final stretch of the obstacle course, the latter blasted chains trapping her legs in place.
"Hey, giraffe! I'd say kiss my shadow but you're already used to doing that!"
Forced to push off the building to avoid two whips to the face, Lorena took Cree's training from the Mightatholon: slammed and accelerated off the approaching platform.
Arian swung another chain to the face when she stretched her head, chomping on it and yanked her back, pushing her whole body and flipped into the finish line, ripping the ones off her feet.
"Victory," stretching the pain away, watching Queen Austrina clap.
"Marvelous show, don't you agree, Tychonis?"
"Uh," clearly having his eyes prioritized at their lower half. "Ah yes, didn't I say to limit physical interaction with your classmates?"
"She attacked me!"
"In retaliation," aware of her reputation from her boyfriend while noticing Admiral in the Malefic Marshed, staring particularly at her before leaving.
She's noticed. I have to ask. "May I be excused for a minute?"
With her request granted, she followed her new principal back to her office, who immediately reprimanded her for not signing up for officer hours to speak.
"It was about time anyway. You've wanted to speak with me about the Justice Council's lack of involvement in the attack on your father's agency? Am I wrong?"
"More than that," trying to not crack her stoicism. "Is it possible to start an investigative team transcending across the nations: a support to both the military and the common folk that allows for-"
"Terra will not be turned into a military state! Your idealism blinds you from the risk of corruption!"
She sucked her teeth. "Aren't you supposed to be the herald of Justice?"
"If you're blinded by familiar sentimentality, your mentality will remain in the dirt.""Are fae lives who can't fight that worthless to you? You're no worse than the Planetary Presidents!"
Mechion closed her eyes, demanding she'd come with her to an open field near the Scaldshade Woods.
"Since you're so confident: a challenge. If you manage to hit me just once, I'll reconsider your opinion. If not," picking up dirt and crushing it, "accept your place, and never question me again."
Lorena nodded, immediately dashing and firing all of her limbs at Mechion, casually dodging and flipping away until she grabbed a tree, pulling it back when a spiritual hand smashed it to pieces.
She spat enhanced spit at Mechion's face, who summoned Orion's torso, casually releasing it. Lorena jumped in assuming it couldn't be spammed when the older women weaved from her fists, smashing, shocking her with a giant fist from her StellArt.
Shocked, Lorena dashed into the sprinted debris only to have all her fists deflected with Mechion's bare fists. Even activating her Zodiac to boost her striking power barely pushed her back.
She's too strong. Time's gonna run out!
"This is the best you could do with a Zodiac? How disappointing."
Angered, she slammed her hand into the ground, erupting a mountain force from below when Mechion simply jumped, her spectral hands holding it back.
"My turn," building up power shaking the floor between them. Lorena could only stare in astonishment and horror at the height of Orion's spirit form, swinging it's club at her with the force of a meteor.
"Is this the power of a fae, or legend?"
"No," as Lorena tried running from the shadow of defeat. "Reality!"
Her club crashed and shattered the field around her. Blowing away the dust of the impact, Lorena was barely standing.
"I'm not done yet."
Mechion shook her head.
"Answer me this Sanchez. If your father, mother, Yessenia, and the Shadow Brawlers fell, would you have the strength to rise?"
She thought about it and gripped her hand.
"I'll drag myself through Hades to find them justice!"
Lorena pulled two trees to ripple the floor, sending the debris flying. Mechion's spirit palms smashed them away but she jumped from different stones, aiming her stretched punch when Orion's club slammed the young woman into the dirt, slowly approaching her.
"So close, though I must admit-"
She tapped Lorena, whose head fell off as two hands burst out of the ground. Orion's hand protected her but the young lady's head tilted directions flying face first at Mechion before stopping, completely out of magic. The Admiral winded her hand back and Lorena accepted her fate.
And got a fist bump in return.
"You passed."
Tired, Lorena blinked as Mechion tilted her head, pinching her cheek to show the mark of dirt made when she stretched her head.
"Huh?"
"Using your Capricorn StellArts to destabilize the ground, swimming through the dirt, and making your clone of yourself. Initially that was to test your resolve, but that exceeded expectations."
"But, you said I was less than dirt?"
"Someone as delicate as you," tightening her fist and molding it into a crystal, "might become a beautiful gem with them," crouching down. "Young adults with strong conviction this early are hard to come by. Your mission is simple: help find the switches transforming people into Voids."
"Then you're-"
"Kick starting your journey as my apprentice. Starting tomorrow, let's see how much you can shine," lightly knocking her out, and carrying her to the Health Center. On the way, she pulled out a photograph containing a figure familiar to both of them.
"Like parent, like child," recalling the decision made for the Justice Council not to interfere with statewide emergencies, her face filled with regret. As well her last talk with Solomon.
"Combining the powers of the Giraffe Constellation with Capricorn Zodiac. You might be one of the thirteen after all."
Hours later, Lorena woke up to Bethany in a daze, who asked her if she remembered anything.
"Did I fight two principals in one year?"
