The soft squeak of the shopping cart was starting to annoy me. They had stopped the cheery sound of Christmas carols from flowing through the speakers so I had to endure the persistent sound of the wheels rolling against the tiles.
It was literally early September, not that I was complaining I loved Christmas carols.

This reach me almost every second Friday that's when I did my routine grocery shopping. The second Thursday of the month. Something always found a way to annoy the hell out of me.

I rolled my eyes then checked the list again. The meats were the last on the list and I'd gotten those— cornflakes that's it, that's what I was forgetting. It was the only thing on my mental list.

I stood at the isle staring up at the different boxes of cereal and the ones I wanted were all the way at the top, here we go. I looked left and right but I was alone, how was I gonna reach it without all of them falling down on me? Where were all the people I saw before?
Not a soul fi help mi in times of need.

I was about to turn away when a figure appeared at the end of the isle notepad in hand, he seemed to be checking the products.

"Excuse me..... Hello!"

He looked up at me and I smiled almost nervously, he walked towards me and I sighed in relief. He was definitely over five feet— tall, maybe six. I blinked looking away from him as he came closer. His cologne infiltrated my senses as he stood beside me and wow.
Man fi smell good, it's a must.

"Hi." I said quickly, "could you help me get that please?"

No Hi how are you? A so Francine grow you Asia?

I spent my entire day tending to children mainly toddlers, having to be stern but polite and gentle. Early childhood Ed was not for the weak, I was tired.
On the outside I looked sane but if you were to look deeper.. A mad mi a mad out.

"Which one?"

His voice made me forcefully blink. Had I spaced out? Tend to from time to time.

"Red and white and the frosted flakes."
Jus supm bout red and white cornflakes honestly.

He took them down easily and handed them to me and I smiled again or grimaced I wasn't sure. I probably looked like I was in pain or constipated because I genuinely was in pain, my feet were killing me.

"Thank you." I said softly, placing them in the cart.

"You're welcome, anything else?"
He sounded British or Hispanic—maybe just a little bit.
One a dem.

I stared up at him taking in his appearance fully for the first time. My eyes trailing from his face downward, lingering curiously at his physique. He was undoubtedly well built. I could see hints of it through his grey T and just by looking at his arms.

Straightening my tilted head, I cleared my throat bringing my eyes that had reached his dark washed jeans back up to his face.

"No that's all thank you." I said softly.

A smile formed at his lips before he turned away.

"Happy to help."

He went back to the end of the isle with his notepad obviously jotting things down. He looked up at me after a few seconds and I stood frozen in spot like a goat in headlights even though the goat would probably get out the damn road. He'd caught me staring like some pervert. I wheeled the cart away up to the cashier and shook my head.
