My belly growled, the soup smelt really good.

"Can get a cup a that?"

Mama turned to stare me down even though we were brushing the same height.

"Asia baby." She said, a smile forming on her face. She pulled me in for a hug and I embraced her, inhaling her subtle flowery familiar scent.

"Never did an expect you, how you never tell me yah come? You just reach?"

I nodded as I smiled still eyeing the soup. I hadn't eaten since the day before, first I didn't have an appetite then I just didn't want to. The soup bubbling in the pot looked appealing.

"Wasn't planned just decided to pop up. What's going on?"

"Ntn new misses, you know mi no like when you drive a night Asia but thank God you reach safe and sound. Weh you say you want soup?"

I nodded and she continued to eye me making me feel as if a lecture was coming.

She shared the soup and handed the cup to me.

"A chicken foot soup."

I had suspected it was, it sure smelt like it. I look around the back of the yard, it was mostly dark except for where we stood under the tarpaulin being the brightest. The house lights lit the far end of the space but there wasn't much to see but trees and bush anyways.

"Mi need fi talk to you bout supm but it can wait till you settled."

I knew it! Knew she wanted to talk to me about some thing. I silently hoped it wasn't about Rodaine because I honestly didn't want to revisit the topic. Just the thought of his name made me feel nauseous.

"Can get some more?" I asked as she handed a cup to a woman waiting in front her.

"You eat from morning?" She asked as she refilled my cup.
A lady with an apron cane and stood beside her basically taking over the sharing of soup.

"Yes I did." I lied.

Mama's hair was up in a little bun and she had on a red dress. I could see the stress in her eyes and I sighed inwardly.

"Me feel like yah lie to me but okay come we go round a front."

The yard was bustling with activity, the loud knocks of dominoes on the the tables could probably be heard from out the road.
Why dem behave so strong when dem a play e likkle domino game?

"You're here!" Kyra said excitedly as I stepped inside the house and right into the living room area.

I smiled shaking my head.

"Yes I'm here obviously, weh uno ago?" I asked.

All three siblings were dressed up looking good. Shape good and swag really run in the family because my cousins looked good.

"Out yah come?" Kyra asked as she stuffed something into her side bag.

"Up a S and S Tavern Asia, you wanna come?" Kyle said frowning at his sisters.
I could always count on him for clarity.
