Nodding my head to a Vybz kartel song. I sped my little white Honda fit on the north south highway to Kingston nothing but the lyrics on my mind.

Sophia had called me earlier to let me know maintenance work had started a little after nine.

Pulling into the parking lot a little over half an hour later I was not surprised the spot was taken. I rolled my eyes powering off the car and grabbing my cross bag off the passenger seat.
A no your place miss.

"You reach finally. Heyyy come here." She said hugging me before I could even get the key out to open the grill.

"Hey Soph." I said softly, hugging her back and sighing into her arms.

She rubbed my back holding unto me a little longer than usual rocking us gently from side to side. I felt the feelings slowly resurfacing but I willed them away.

Sophia was short and a bit plumb, her jet black hair was cut low in a pixie style. Her light skin was radiant just as her charismatic personality. She was in a simple yellow house dress which was way above her knees and showcased her round curves. I always admired how shapely she was and on a normal day we would be bantering about it, I'd compliment her and she'd say I was one to talk.

We hadn't really been talking much for a while because of work. She was a nurse at the University hospital, we barely had time to catch up and had briefly drifted a apart. She had still made an effort to call and check up on me constantly since Lisha passed even when my phone was off.

"You did a lay wait me." I said smiling at her. "Come mek we go in cause me know in deh proboally flood out." I added.

She followed me inside and I went straight to the kitchen to check the sink but to my surprise it was as dry as I left it. Well okay.

"Dem lock off some supm out a door wa day so some person no have water throughout the day."

"Ohhhhh. So wah gwaan." I asked grabbing a red cran juice from the fridge for myself.

"You want juice or sorrel beer?"

"You can bother ask dat."

I smiled a little handing her the beer.
We went to the living room to sit and I sighed in contentment, finally I was in my space. I kinda missed it.

"So weh you say gwaan now?" I asked. She laughed then gave me a rundown of events prior to and after the meeting.

"Wow. So that's why they were stalling the repairs and getting people weh no know weh dem a do fi fix the place?"

"Yeah it seems so. But to me I think already sold it way which kinda weird because shouldn't we have been informed of it suppose dem raise the rent now or tell us we have to leave?"

She was saying she heard the building would soon be been sold or already was and was under new management.

"I'm not sure how that goes but I think so, don't think they could do that I'm gonna dig into in when I'm settled or when I go back to Clarendon."

"When you going back?" She asked.

"Probably in the morning, or depends on how long what they're doing takes."
I could probably just leave my key with her but I didn't want to go back just yet.

"Oh okay I understand, how you holding up?"

Feeling the gnawing feeling in my stomach sagain, I wished she didn't ask. My stomach had begun to hurt after what I heard last night, I had been trying so hard not to cry or to let the sad emotions drown me and it was going well up until now.
