The day of the funeral was getting closer. It was merely a few days away. I would be lying if I said I had it on my mind. My dresses had arrived and I'd tossed them somewhere in the house. I had my hair to sort out.

They were in the closet. On a box on the shelve. I was lying it was all I thought about.

I didn't know what to do, I missed her, my heart ached for her. I felt unhappy for so many reasons. Why didn't she come to me? What did I do wrong? I tried to be her friend, someone she could confide in while also being strict enough. Was that it?

"Miss Small?"

"Yeah?"

"Why are you crying?"

I blinked rapidly wiping the tears from my eyes. It was now interfering with work, taking a toll on me. I felt so unhappy I just wanted to lay down.

"I'm not crying, there's something in my eye." I assured Taylor. I took her notebook giving her the best smile I could muster.

She looked convinced and smiled skipping to her seat, her beads clanking loudly together as she did.

I marked her book, putting a smiley sticker that said good job!

Looking around the classroom I noticed two more students approaching with their books as the bell rang.

"Mellisa please take your feet off the desk top and sit properly." I said sternly and she did as told pushing her thumb in her mouth. She looked sleepy.

"Settle down class, everyone else leave your books on the desks please." I said as I took the two books brought to me.

"Zayden please put the play dough back on the shelf and go to your seat. It's prayer time, I hope you completed your work."

Since you found time to be all about. These children were stressing me on-top of stress today.

I sighed inwardly. This was why I could not be distracted, I had to keep my eyes on them at all times. I had to pull myself together but I felt as if I was slipping farther apart.

"Clasp your hands and close your eyes. Zayden your seat now!"

He moved to his seat and I sighed.

"School is over for today—..."

They recited the rest of the prayer and I collected the books and prepared them for pick up.

I had to face the parents tomorrow for parent teachers' meeting. I was not looking forward to that, since I'd just taken on the class I didn't know what exactly to expect. I met some parents briefly at the start of the new term and at pick up. Some had checked in time to time inquiring about their child.

As involved parents.

But there were always some that made my work hard for whatever reason and I was not up to being all smiles and yes yes tomorrow.

Quickly making my way home I stopped to get gas and got my tire filled. One had been low on air since in the morning.

I arrived at Dunwell and was met with Sophia and Rodaine arguing at the front of my apartment.

"Why is he here and isn't Sophia supposed to be at work?"

I inhaled and exhaled stepping out the car as my heart began to race irregularly.

"Asia."
Don't say my name.

"Sophia what's going on?" I asked ignoring him.

"Saw him looking around like him a check fi you key so mi ask him weh him want? And him threaten mi an start cuss like gyal." She said shrugging.
