I smiled, tilting my head to the side, my wig slowly falling off, my pure, cloud-white hair revealed. I looked at the tree, waiting to see if they'd come out. I sighed, and put my hands up. "I wont kill you...yet, I normally only do that when I have people watching. Also killing anyone because I want to is forbidden, so you're safe. Come out, pretty please?" I say in a high pitched tone, and hear the person chuckle. It's slightly pow, but not a female voice. It's a man. The leaves rustle as the man climbs down from the tree. All that can be seen on their face was their light, soft brown eyes, as they stared at me. I opened my mouth to speak " Helloooo, so I'm assuming that you are apart of the group that's been chasing us? You probably know who we are, so why are you trying to attack us?"
"Because you aren't welcome here. The Clear Water Mafia only appears once a night, and each time they do, there's always an "accident" that includes someone life being taken."
I giggled, he wasn't wrong. For some reason, his voice almost sounded....familiar. I shook it off, there was no way.
"Yeah, that's what happens, but I'm pretty sure your group isn't who we're after. It's someone called "Jane the green-faced Snake" or something. Anyways she's someone we're being hired to kill, so as long as you stay out of our way, you guys will be fine. Deal?" As I speak, I notice the man's eyes looking around slightly, as if he thought someone was watching us. I didn't pay any attention to it. It was taking a lot of self control to not stab him right now, but that's unfortunately against the rules. I sighed. I heard the man in front of me take a breath in, signing he was about to speak.
"Ok. Just stay out of our way for when we do what we do." I smiled and nodded. "Same to you. Now, I'd prefer if I had something to call you, just incase our paths cross again"
"You may call me Ace" and with that, he leapt back into the tree, and vanished. I hummed, skipping my way back to camp. I had to go see Eric, of course. I always loved watching his psychic abilities.
I entered the camp, and saw things were in full swing already, people everywhere, going from place to place. I snuck behind each tent, before arriving at an all-black one. I snuck in through the back of it, and hid under a spare table with a cloth draped over it, and watched. There was a young girl at the end of one table, and there was Eric, saying strange words I didnt recognize. He looked up, likely with a smile and said "Your future is filled with happiness and joy, as long as you don't chase after the weak." The little girls eyes widened and she smiled and said "Thank you Mr. Fortune teller!" And she ran out with her mom right behind her. I watched, my eyes filled with joy...or that's what it would seem like to the normal eye. I sneaked out of the tent, and headed back to mine. I sat on my mattress. I would take a nap, I thought to myself. I wondered if "she" would show up in my dreams again...I closed my eyes, and fell asleep.
I blinked open my eyes, but I wasn't in my tent. I was in a burning village, lumber falling down everywhere. There were two boys with me, one with white hair like mine, the other with light blond hair, which was very fluffy. I blinked and found myself outside of the house I had been, and at the edge of the street was...her, again. That same girl with the pure white hair, the raggedy clothes, the same dirt-covered face. She looked up at me and spoke. "Oh Circe, here we are again. Doesn't this village bring back memories?" She giggled, and I looked at her with a crazed smile. "Good ol' memories. Now Valia, why did you bring me back here again? To make me suffer?" I said. Her smile widened as she laughed. She didn't stop and I said "Why are you laughing? What's so funny?" She opened her mouth and responded with her light, raspy voice. "It seems some memories haven't been buried yet, Circe. But anyways, I needed to talk to you. Can I ask you a question?" And she tilted her head. "I usually don't have a choice. Ask away." Valia smiled and said "Why do you kill? Why do you laugh as you plunge your knife deep into your enemies chest? Or their head or leg. You always seem to...enjoy killing, making others suffer. Is it because of this?" She pointed all around the village. I smirked, and burst into laughter, tears going down my face from laughing so hard. Truly amusing, she really thought it was because of the past? "Silly, silly Valia. No no no no no, it's because it's fun! I always wanted to know what it feels like to do it, and now I am! That feeling as the knife goes deep into their flesh..so lovely! The hatred that burns in their eyes as they stare at me, the light fading, it's so nice seeing that look of pure hatred and rage. " I look at her face, which was slightly in shock. "Oh, your face brings back memories... and Valia, I kill because I can. I'm not punished. I guess it's my way of... enjoying myself? We both know I was never ok in the mind, right? Anyways, get me out of here." I say, and Valia's face widens into a smile, after the shock. "No, you need to suffer more and more." And as she said that, the scene changed to a small body in front of me, beaten, cut, everything. The light blond hair was stained with blood, and it was lifeless. My breathing increased. " You little...no, no no no. Stop showing me this" I heard laughter behind me, and saw Valia. I held my head as the body stayed in front of me, and it hurt...so, so much...like hundreds of knives were stabbing into me. I saw the face of shock of the white-haired boy seeing the body. Valia had vanished, and all I could do was scream, on my knees....
I gasped, and woke up, cold sweat dripping down my face. I shook my head, and smacked my face. "Gotta get ahold of myself! That is nothing but an illusion caused by Valia, that dang curse" I couldn't help but start giggling to myself, my eyes widened, like I'd gone mad. Then again, I already had. I then noticed the multiple notes all over my tent. They all said exactly one thing, and one thing only.
"What is your definition of "God?"
