She watched Ward fall to the ground, a bullet firing from the gun she was holding. She froze, she couldn't believe she had just shot someone. She dropped the gun because of how back she was shaking and Rafe walked over to her, holding her steady.
Raven, Raven, hey, look at me, listen, I need you to listen," He spoke, his voice stern, but not hostile, "Let me take care of this, I can- I can stage it as a suicide, his finger prints are on his gun still, I can make it look like he killed himself, we have the same gun he does, everything is going to be okay, alright? Everything is gonna be fi-" He tried to reassure her, listing out a plan but she shook her head no.
"Rafe, we need to tell someone- we need to call the cops- I just- I just killed someone-"
"Raven, hey, listen, you need to listen to me," He looked into her eyes, trying everything to calm her down, "It was self defense, you did it because there was no telling what he could do, I can stage it, no matter what happens, nothing is going to happen to you, nothing is going to happen to me, you're safe now. Let me take care of it now, let me take care of you," He held her close to him, feeling her shaking.
"Are we leaving now trace?" She asked, looking at him, going with the idea.
He nodded, her pulling away. He slowly picked up the gun, making sure she didn't make any sudden movements out of fear and slowly tucked it back in her shorts.
"We can talk about it, when we get back home, okay?" Rafe spoke quietly, Raven answering with just a nod.
She went into the utility closet, grabbing the ropes and chair, taking it to Rafe's truck, putting it in the back. Rafe took the cloth and picked up the gun, placing it in Ward's dead hand, then putting the cloth in his back pocket, looking down at his dad.
"Fuck you," He mumbled, walking away from the body, out to the truck, pulling his phone out.
He dialed 9-1-1, taking a deep breath, watching Raven get into the passenger seat.
"Hi, I'd like to report a suicide," He said with a shaky voice, "Yes, I know who, name is Ward Cameron, he shot himself."
Raven heard Rafe's words from the passenger seat of the truck. Her emotions were blank, she was still in shock but she also couldn't help but be overtaken by fear at the same time.
"Hey, listen," He whispered, getting in the driver's seat, "They're on their way to take care of it, it's all taken care of," Rafe gently took her hand and kissed her rope burned wrist, "We need to clean those up when we get home."
He started to drive towards the house, his mind replaying what just happened, so was Raven's. The image of Ward falling limp on the floor, laying there as she smelt the aftermath of the bullet fire.
"The side of my head too, he pushed me into the car window and busted my head open," She spoke softly and he glanced over at her, interlocking their fingers.
"Raven," He spoke quietly, filling with guilt, "I'm sorry- this wouldn't have happened if-"
"Rafe don't-" Raven gently squeezed his hand, "Don't even start."
He just nodded, holding her hand tightly as he drove into the driveway. He gently let go of her hand, getting out of the car and waited for her to get out. It took her a minute, but she eventually got out, their hands intertwining again. He let her into the house, feeling that she was still shaking a little bit. He locked the door and closed the curtain that covered the front door window, then walking around the house closing all the curtains, her standing in the foyer watching.
"Does that help?" He spoke gently to her and she nodded, then lead her to the bathroom, "Let's get you cleaned up, alright?" He picked her up and placed her on the counter grabbing all the first aid stuff, "How bad is your head," He gently tilted it and she winced, his hand brushing over the gash, "I'm sorry, doll, I didn't mean to hurt you."
"You didn't mean to its okay," She whispered as he took care of it, "Rafe, I'm sorry I shot him," A tear rolling down her face.
He sighed, then looked at her, wiping her tears, "I'm not, if anything, I'm jealous you were the one to shoot him and I wasn't," He kissed her forehead, watching a small smile form on her, he couldn't help but smirk at her, "You fixed a lot of stuff that you don't even know," He wrapped his arms around her.
"Has my head stopped bleeding?" Raven spoke softly and he touched the wound with a cotton ball, then nodded.
"Yeah baby, you're okay," He hugged her tightly and she wrapped her arms around him.
She started to cry again, she was finally showing some sort of emotion, her body started trembling and he let out a sympathetic sigh.
"Rafe," She cried, burying her face in his chest, "What the fuck did I do."
"Shhh, you did what you had to, you were protecting yourself," He held her close, rubbing her back, "You did the right thing."
"I fucking killed someone," She cried, looking up into his eyes, "That was no the right thing to do."
"Hey, hey," He kissed her forehead, trying to calm her down, "I know you're freaking out, it's okay, I promise, I know you think I'm mad at you, I can tell, but I promise you, Raven, I'm not mad at you, if anything I'm proud of you," He cupped her face, seeing relief flash in her eyes.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, Raven, we should get you your own gun, just in case you're ever in a situation like that, I'm happy you can handle yourself," He kissed her forehead again.
"Rafe, I don't wanna ever be in that situation again," She stifled a laugh.
"I know, I don't want you to be in that situation either, but we need to consider all options, just in case you piss someone off," He smirked.
"I do piss a lot of people off, don't I?" She let out another laugh and his heart started to pound.
He didn't realize how much he missed her laugh, how much her laugh lit up his entire world.
