Chapter 23

Raven and Rafe had slept in the day following, not on purpose but whenever they were together they both felt at peace. The second Raven woke up, she looked down at her hand just to make sure what happened last night was real, and it was. There was an engagement ring on her finger.

"Raven," Rafe mumbled, but he was still asleep, so she glanced at him, "RAVEN NO!" He yelled, he sounded terrified, then shot up, Raven grabbing him into a hug instantly.

"Hey, hey, its okay." She whispered, hugging him close.

"Thank god," He clung to her, she didn't know if she wanted to know what the dream was about or not by his reaction, fear subsiding in him.

"You're okay," She gently rubbed his head, her eyes softening when she heard the genuine fear in his voice, "Do you wanna talk about it?"

"No," He pulled away from her, "I'm fine."

"Absolutely not, you're not shutting down, what happened," She scolded him and a flash of anger took over his eyes but they softened almost immediately.

"You were dying and I couldn't save you," He whispered, not being able to look her in the eyes.

"Look at me," She gently grabbed his face, turning it so she could look in his eyes, then placed his hands on her cheeks, her hands on top, her thumbs rubbing them gently, "I'm okay, I promise," She spoke in a soft voice and he nodded, kissing her gently.

"Never leave," His voice was nearly above a whisper.

"I never plan on it," She smiled, holding up her hand with the ring on it.

He tackled her in a hug, pinning her to the bed, a loud laugh escaping her lips. He planted kisses all over her face as she playfully tried to push him off.

"I love you so much," He looked at her, his eyes were sprinkled with love.

"I love you more," She grinned and leaned up to kiss him.

"Alright, time to get up," He stood up from the bed and threw a T-shirt and shorts at her, causing her to let out a small laugh.

"Thank you," She quickly took the hoodie off and put the shirt on, taking everything in Rafe to not rip it back off of her.

They both finished getting changed and walked down the stairs quickly, to his dirt bike.

"Where are we going?" He asked, turning to look at her.

"The Chateau," She spoke, knowing he'd show some type of annoyance.

"Raven-" He said in a groan, clearly not wanting to be around the Pogues.

"You can wait at the end of the fucking driveway for all I fucking care, I need to tell my brother though, things are just now getting better."

"Fine," He let out a sigh, then started the dirt bike up, a satisfactory smile falling on Raven's lips.

The drive was short, but Rafe intended on not going fast so it would take longer to get there. When they got to the driveway, Rafe drove down it, then parked a couple feel from the Twinkie.

"I will stay right here, I'm not going in," He crossed his arms.

"That's fine," Raven gave him a smile, then walked up the porch.

While Rafe sat there, he glanced over and saw Kiara and Pope sitting at the fire pit who were both staring at him. He then heard a chicken, rolling his eyes at it, tapping his fingers on the handle bars. He felt something peck at his foot, causing a yelp to leave his lips, hearing snickers from the fire pit. He glared at them and huffed, hoping Raven would hurry up.

"RAVEN!" Sarah gleamed, getting up from the table.

"Where's John B?" I asked, glancing around, not seeing him.

"He took the boat to Heyward's, why? Is something wrong" JJ sat up from the couch, grabbing his gun.

"Woah put the gun down-" Raven let out a laugh, "Everything is fine I just need to talk to him, tell him something rather."

I fidgeted with the ring on my finger, Sarah's jaw dropping.

"NO WAY!" Sarah gasped, coming over and taking Raven's hand from her, "IS THIS?"

"Yeah," Raven grinned, "It is."

"Wait I'm slow what?" JJ stood up and looked at her hand, his jaw dropping, "No fucking way- you got Rafe Cameron to actually- wow-" He let out a laugh.

"What's going on?" John B came through the door, a grin forming on my face when I turned to look at him.

I show John B the ring and he just stares at me, "John B?"

He walked out of the house, Raven following close behind, watching John B sock Rafe in the face.

"John B!" Raven yelled, watching Rafe punch her brother right back.

She went over and pushed John B away from Rafe, smacking him, leaving him shocked.

"DID HE KNOCK YOU UP? IS THAT WHY THIS IS HAPPENING?" John B yelled and I stared at him in disbelief.

"NO YOU FUCKING IDIOT IT'S BECAUSE I LOVE HER," Rafe yelled, John B's face falling.

"You don't know a goddamn thing about love-" John B started at Rafe, causing him to get on his bike and turn it on.

"Raven let's go," Rafe spoke through his teeth, as she looked between the two of them, "Raven. Let's GO," He yelled and she nodded, getting on the back of the bike.

Raven's eyes searched John B's, she was hurt, she thought things were getting better with him. They arrived at the local airport, tears running down Raven's face.

"Rafe I'm sorry," She cried, she didn't know why she was apologizing, but she could tell he was hurt.

"Stop apologizing," He mumbled, not even looking at her, getting on the plane.

"Please look at me," She felt horrible for what had happened.

"Raven get in the fucking plane," He sighed, turning around.

"Rafe," She looked at him with tears in her eyes, his eyes softening.

"Baby, come on," He spoke softly, and she just nodded, tears running down her face.

"I'm sorry," She cried, her arms wrapping around him.

"It's not your fault," Rafe kissed the top of her head, hugging her tightly.

"He's an asshole, I'm sorry," Her tears wet his shirt, but he didn't care.

"All I care about is that you know, that I love you," He held her close.

He'd be lying if he said John B's words didn't get to him. He just wanted her to know that he truly does love her.

"I know," She looked at him, touching his face gently, "I love you."

She kissed him gently and his arms tightened around her, holding her close.
