his eyes batted between elodie and the floor, he looked over to his phone on the bed and the screen was illuminated with lando calling him.
"aren't you going to get that?" she asked
he shook his head "no."

he looked up at the girl who stood in the doorway, who was still wearing her dress from the night out.
"why are you here elodie?"
she took a deep breath in "I can't stop thinking about you oscar, every race im watching you instead of my own team, im watching you at parties. for gods sake oscar im watching your socials all the time."
oscar was trying to rack out something in his brain, something to say, something to do.
"elodie.."
she looked up at him "say something oscar. please,"
he couldn't get his words out.
"Oscar please, please say something so I don't think im going crazy."
her heart was pounding, her breathing was ragged, and Oscar looked into her eyes.
"elodie i.."
she looked up at him, a hope glimmering in her eyes.
"elodie i can't."
her face dropped.
heart heart copying her face.
"okay." she said and turned around , making her way back to her room, her palms sweaty, her eyes filling up with water.
she walked into her room to be met with the hopeful eyes of lacey and amy and she just shook her head.

"it was useless. he said he couldn't."
she watched lacey stand up, not looking very happy, but instead of murdering Oscar, she held elodie and kissed her forhead.
"you'll be okay my love." lacey whispered "I promise."

THE NEXT DAY

the media talk was awkward, the McLaren's paired with the redbulls & Mercedes.
lacey was shooting oscar the most evil looks and max looked at his girlfriend with the most confused look on his face, every time he asked lacey battered him away with the excuse of "Ill tell you later."
oscar felt the eyes of lacey on him and felt his face burning.

elodie was sat in the redbull garage with mila on her lap, explaining what mummy and daddy were doing on the screen, christian stood over her shoulder pointing out some media ideas he would like her to put into place.
she smiled as mila pointed towards the screen and shouted "dada!"
her eyes turned to Christian and asked "has she spoke before?"
christian shook his head "not to my knowledge no."
with mila on her hip elodie made her way to the Mercedes garage searching for toto
"elodie?" toto asked, face wrinkled with worry
"has mila ever spoken before?" she asked
"no." toto replied
she smiled, "well, she just said dada."
toto burst out in laughter before picking mila up "just wait until her mother finds out."

she headed back to the redbull garage and greeted the two drivers after they finished their interview, to be met with a very concerned looking max, holding some flowers in his hand
"uh, lace told me about last night. me and sergio got you these to make you feel better."
elodie smiled and looked up at max "oh max. you really are too kind."
