CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Your Hair Looks Like Shit

Lorelai stepped out of the helicopter with her duffel bag.

"Ethan Hunt? G'day, mate. I'm William Baird. Billy's okay. Anything you need me to get, move or watch, just let me know, I'm your man. I'll have a look around." Billy introduced, laughing as he walked away.

Ethan turned to look at Luther, he couldn't see Lorelai yet. Then Luther stepped in shit. "Shit."

    "Yes, it is."

"This ain't funny. I just bought these $800 Gucci shoes, and you got Lorelai and I in a helicopter with this man."

Ethan laughed, looking at Lorelai as they stopped in their tracks. "Good to actually see you, Lorelai."

    Lorelai just hummed in response.

"So, how do I look?" He asked confidently.

"Your hair looks like shit." Lorelai told him. It really wasn't that bad, but she liked messing with him.

Lorelai, Ethan, and Luther walked back to the house. And a while later, Luther had the computer open and was tracking the spy Ethan had found. "Computer's up. We got her."

"Let's put in the coordinates and get a visual." They waited a few minutes. Nothing. "Visuals aren't coming up."

"The satellite doesn't work as fast as I do."

"Yeah, I heard about you, luther. Just wanna say it's an honour... and a pleasure to be working with you blokes." Billy said, taking a seat.

Lorelai could tell Billy was getting on Ethan and Luther's nerves. "Come on. Isn't there any way we can speed this up?" Ethan asked Luther.

"With what? This is the only computer that'll do this."

"Lorelai..." Ethan said, looking at her.

"Field agent, not a techie." Lorelai told him truthfully.

The visuals had finally loaded after a minute. Lorelai didn't know who the spy was, and she was genuinely curious. "Ethan, here we go." Luther said.

The screen showed the spy, a woman, and a man. "Now, there's a bloke who knows how to give a proper welcome." Billy said, then looked at Luther and Lorelai. "Don't get me wrong, mates. You two were very friendly also. Although, you," he started, pointing at Lorelai, "pulled a knife on me."

"Yeah, she tends to do that as her greeting." Ethan told him.

"Is it him?" Billy asked about the man.

    "It's him, Billy."

    "So we've got him!"

    "We don't know that."

"Yeah, we don't know what we've got. 'Cause we don't know what he's got, where he's got it or what he's doing in Sydney with it."

Ethan continued staring at the screen. "She did it. She's in the compound." Luther told him.

"Yeah? We just rolled up a snowball and tossed it into hell. Now we'll see what chance it has."

The day passed by, the sun was setting and Lorelai went outside. She was enjoying the quiet until Ethan came up to stand beside her. "So, did you sleep with her?" Lorelai asked.

"No. I couldn't. She's great, but she's not you. She has a fire, but not your fire. She doesn't throw constant sarcastic remarks at every little thing I say. And she didn't nearly stab me when we first met three years ago." Ethan answered.

Lorelai looked at him with a small smile. "I should have stabbed you. I could have too."

"I know you could have, sweetheart." Ethan replied with a smirk. The smile on Lorelai fell as she scoffed.

    "Agent asshole." She mused.

    "Agent beautiful." Ethan retorted.

Lorelai scoffed again, "I'm gonna go try to sleep—"

"There's not many rooms." Ethan told her.

    "Okay?"

"You're with me." Ethan informed her, making her laugh aloud.

"Good one." Then she realised he was serious. "No. No. No. Please tell me there's a reason why you had to do that."

    "I can't tell you."

    "Why not?"

"I'm a secret agent for a reason, I've got secrets."

Lorelai groaned, walking into the house as she reached the room that was now hers and Ethan's. Just as Lorelai was putting her oversized t-shirt on, Ethan walked in. He smiled then looked down as he walked more into the room. "Why don't you take compliments well?" He asked as he started changing his shirt.

    "Parents."

"I think I would have hated them." Ethan admitted.

"I did. Still do actually." Lorelai responded, picking at the skin around her unpolished nails.

Ethan sighed, walking over to her. "You are beautiful. I want you to know that and actually realise it."

Lorelai rolled her eyes, "fine, I realise it."

    "Do you though?"

"Not really, no." Lorelai said, crawling under the covers and laying on her side. Ethan crawled in beside her and just smiled. It felt normal. It felt right for them to be together.
