Sage Taylor

I folded my arms as the waiter placed our food on the table and refilled our drinks. We all looked at Dong-Min waiting for him to say something.

"So...there isn't any family. I was raised in a lab, I don't know who my parents are. I ran away, I was in an underground lab on Jeju Island." He explained.

"How did you get registered in school?" I asked sitting up.

"I'm good with computers, I don't even know my real name. Dong-Min is something I came up with, I was called S1 when I was at the lab." He said.

"S1?" Daniel asked.

"Subject one, they would draw blood from me and treat me like an animal. Test after test after test." He said looking at his hands.

"How did you escape?" In-Yeop asked.

"When they released my collar for my daily shower. I teleported, I appeared here in the woods. I survived for about a week on fish and an abandoned tent, but that didn't last long so...I teleported into vaults and stole money. I only did it once...after that I registered myself into school. I wanted to be somewhat normal...so I put on this whole persona of the goofy guy. I don't know...who I am." He said as tears fell out of his eyes.

He locked eyes with me.

"She probably thinks different of me now..."

I looked away and sighed.

"This is some fucked up shit." Daniel mumbled.

The silence around the table was loud.

"Not only are you a fugitive, but...Sage you were human what the fuck." Daniel said.

Everyone chuckled as the tension began to ease.

"Yeah, I was...I guess you can say I was a late bloomer." I shrugged.

"Was there others...in the underground?" In-Yeop asked.

The table grew quiet.

"I don't know, I heard other voices but it could've been the doctors." Dong-Min said.

He nodded before he sat back and rubbed his chin in deep thought. I heard crunching before all eyes landed on Daniel.

"Sorry." He muffled as he continued chewing.

"How did you know I was human?" I asked.

"Your eyes...natural blue eyes are naturally blue all around. One day you rubbed your eye and the contact moved...I didn't know for sure then until you started bleeding when you hopped out the bus." He explained.

In-Yeop glanced at me with that stupid smirk causing me to roll my eyes.

"That was weird you could've just splash water on it instead of using a band aid." Daniel nodded.

"That's what I said." In-Yeop laughed agreeing.

"Fuck all y'all, anyway...I'm sorry you had to go through that Dong-Min." I said.
