She and her sister sat in the waiting room of the vets as they awaited the news.
Ji-A had spotted an injured puppy laying on the side of the road.
She had just been paid last week so she was able to pay for the treatments.
The receptionist and vet felt bad for her, they had found out part of her story after there were no adults with her so they gave her a 75% discount.
She was able to pay for it with enough to spare, she made sure Soo-Min held whatever little money they had so Devin and his friends wouldn't find it.
"Y/n?" the vet called.
Her and her sisters followed the vet into the room, the puppy was eating from a food bowl on the examination table.
"So, he'll be alright, just make sure he eats enough, he doesn't have any wounds or cuts, he had fleas but they're gone now so don't be worried." The vet began, explaining everything she needed to know.
"What breed is he?" she asked.
"Great Dane, he is happy now that he's awake, fed and watered, they're a brilliant dog breed, they can be gentle and affectionate and make great guard dogs if trained properly, he's about 9 months and 1 week old, he is fully vaccinated. He is really smart, he knew what I was trying to do when I was doing tests and understood a few words." The vet said.
"T-thank y-you." She stuttered.
The vet put the dog into Soo-Min's arms.
The dog was really friendly and affectionate, cuddling up to Soo-Min as he licked her.
"What will we name him?" she asked as they left the vet clinic.
"Bear!" Ji-A exclaimed.
"Yeah, that's so cute!" Soo-Min agreed. "Please?"
"Of course." She answered.
'Bear' was smallish, she knew he'd grow a whole lot bigger real soon.
They stopped in the pet store to buy the things Bear would need, buying the cheapest things, the dog food costed just under half her money, they also needed a lead and treats for him.
Ji-A and Soo-Min found the cutest -and surprisingly suitable- things for Bear.
"Strawberries?" she suggested, surely getting a dog was an occasion.

She liked the idea of Bear being a guard dog, she decided to train him to be a guard dog, her and Soo-Min brainstormed how they would do it and started the basics like recall and 'sit' and 'lay down' and made a start on 'stand down' which meant stop growling or whatever and return to her side.
"What if we train him to sit in between your legs when we're standing still or siting down?" Soo-Min suggested.
"That's actually a great idea though, we should probably finish the ones we've started first." She said.
"The vet wasn't lying when she said Bear was smart, he understood what we meant most of the time." Soo-Min said.
"Yeah, not all dogs are that smart." She agreed.
Ji-A giggled as Bear licked her face playfully.
"Bear!" Ji-A giggled.
"Woof!" Bear barked playfully as he snuffed his head under Ji-A's arm and trotting around her in circles.
A man dropped a few coins into the cup she had set in front of them to accept any spare change.
"T-thank you." She said as she heard the clink of coins dropping into her cup.
A gust of wind blew, knocking back her hood, she quickly pulled it back up but a woman coming out of the vets frowned at her bruises and dropped in spare changed into her cup.
"T-thank you." She said gratefully.
Ji-A climbed onto her lap, and up her oversized jumper, poking her head out the top and cuddling into her.
Ji-A wasn't tall but wasn't too short, Y/n's jumper was oversized and baggy, perfect for Ji-A and her.
Bear joined Ji-A, snuggling up to them as he let out a "Woof!"
Soo-Min must have felt left out because she leaned into Y/n as they watched the sunset.
It was about 8 o'clock, she sang to them as they watched the sun slowly descend in the orange sky.
She sang the lullaby, lacing reassurance throughout her words as she sang the high notes and low notes, word for word how Mum used to sing it, the lullaby even made her tired, she rested her head against the wall as she held the cup in her hands that wrapped around her sisters.
Her sisters' reassuring, soft snores filled her head along with a new one, Bear.
