After the incident at the marketplace, people were a bit more weary and cautious of approaching Naruko now. But it didn't stop fools who were driven by lust to approach her and attempt to get under her skirt, either forcibly or by charming her. It never worked, Naruko always put them in their place, punishing the would-be assaulters by crushing their balls, or breaking a bone as a sign of warning.

And it wasn't just Naruko either, her range of protectives have widened with Itachi, Sasuke, Kakashi, and now Jiraiya is involved, not that she knew about the toad Sannin yet.

Naruko knew that despite the harassment and attempts at sexual assault, she was perfectly safe.

Naruko started spending more time with her old friends too. Though there was still a lingering sense of resentment from her past life, she tried to bury that behind her for a fresh start.

She wanted to live in the present.

Shikamaru picking her up for cloud watching or a shoji game was more frequent. She can smell his attraction to her, and while it flattered her and she sees that he would make a good mate, she just didn't see him the same way.

She had food eating competitions with Choji, those were fun, especially since Kurama helped her out with her insatiable appetite, allowing her to eat more than what the average person could. The Akimichi clan also would invite her over and teach her more recipes that she's never even heard of.

With Hinata and Ino meanwhile, both girls adored her. She would be either shopping with Ino, arranging flowers at her shop, or having tea with Hinata.

Whenever Naruko would visit Hinata--as it turns out one needed explicit permission from a member of the clan to enter the property--she would also end up spending time with Neji.

She very much liked being around Neji. Unlike in her past life, when he was arrogant and a bit snobbish, thinking he was better than everyone and hated Hinata--of course that was before Naruto took away his belief that he couldn't change his destiny--this Neji was...sweet. And a gentleman to her.

He poured her tea with a gentle grace, smiled kindly at her. And looked at her in an intense but also soft way. His gaze wasn't like the villagers gaze filled with either lust or hate, his gaze wasn't like Sasuke's or Itachi's that were filled with constant worry or possessiveness.

He looked at her as if she was...just herself. Not the village beauty, not the former pariah, no in his eyes she was just the cute blonde girl who visits for tea and talks about their family with Hinata and him.

And it makes her blush. As well as romantically excited.

It seems she has found her fifth mate.

Whereas Kakashi, Itachi and Sasuke held fierce protective and possessiveness with an intensity that made her feel like a queen, but also a bird in a cage.....

Neji made her feel like a doted on princess

"Your girly thoughts make me sick" Kurama commented. "And why would you rather be a princess than a queen? You do realize a princess is ranked lower than a queen don't you?"

"Will you be quiet furball?!" Honestly she just couldn't with him sometimes! Can't she fantasize about her mates and delve about her feelings without him making quips and sarcastic comments?!

"Kurama you damn jerk"

It was ten thirty five pm. Sasuke had turned in for the night, but Naruko was still very much awake. She was out at the back yard, looking out to the garden. She admired the well attended flowers and orchids, knowing how much care Sasuke puts into them.

He appeared in front of her a few minutes later. Itachi. "Have you been waiting long?" He asked. Naruko shook her head. "No, and don't worry I don't need you for my heat tonight. Or, not yet anyway" she has a feeling her heat will attack her very late, when Itachi is gone and she will have to turn to Sasuke.

It's Sasuke's turn now.

"Ah, I see"Why did Itachi sound, disappointed?

They just sat together, on the porch, in peaceful silence. Naruko laid her head on Itachi's lap and looked at his face. He was handsome, very much so. "In fact" she smiled giddily "all of my mates are hotties, good job me, I know how to pick them"

"Not without my help"

She just ignored Kurama and focused on Itachi. "So,  when will we  follow suit with your plan to clear my name?" Itachi asked as he started smoothing out Naruko's hair.

"Just...soon, you just have to be a little more patient" Naruko promised.

"Hmm, for my little wife, I'll give you my unlimited patience" Itachi teased turning Naruko bright red. She tried hard not to smile but couldn't help herself. "You were listening to my explanation to Sasuke about the mating process"

"Yes, it was...interesting" Itachi said simply.

"And, you don't mind being married...mated as well, to me?"

"Of course not, why should I?" Itachi asked. Naruko didn't know why but she breathed a sigh of relief.

They stayed at the porch for another hour, talking about whatever comes to mind. Naruko didn't bother to mention the marketplace thugs, though she knows Itachi would probably hear about what happened through village gossip.

When Itachi was about to leave,  Naruko kissed him gently, sweetly, before letting him go. Again Itachi disappeared as if he was never there.

Naruko returned inside the house and went to her bedroom.

Just as she was passing Sasuke's room she felt hot all over and disoriented. "Ah, I knew it" she thinks before opening Sasuke's door, already taking off her night gown.
