Coal black eyes glare back at pale lavender eyes. In the kitchen, they can hear Naruko singing softly as she made lunch. "You and Naruko have been spending much of your time together huh, Hyuga" Sasuke was the first to break the ice, his polite expression masking what he truly felt: the urge to punch the Hyuga boy's face.

"Yes I suppose we have" Neji responded with a smile that looked more like a smug smirk to Sasuke. "Everyday she visits my clan for tea, and then we'd have a walk around the village"

It didn't take Sasuke two seconds to know Neji was boasting how Naruko seeks him out for dates. "I've learned so many wonderful things about Naruko, truly...she is more than the village beauty everyone sees her as just" Neji continued with a smile, sipping his tea quietly.

"Does he think I don't know he's trying to gouge a reaction out of me? Does he think I'm just like those superficial bastards who only sees Naruko as a pretty face and nothing more?" Sasuke's dislike for Neji spiked. But Sasuke composed himself

"Yeah, I know her qualities go beyond just being.." heat spread across his cheeks, he looked to the right and tried to appear aloof. "Beautiful beyond compare"

"Indeed" Neji said

"As her teammate, brother figure, and housemate, I've learned how Naruko is capable of teaching bastards who disrespect her a lesson or two. Did you hear about that incident at the market place regarding four men who tried to sexually harass her and Ino a week ago? Naruko sent one of them to the hospital" Sasuke smirked, feeling proud of Naruko.

"She's also a gifted ninja, graduated top of our class at the academy, while it pained me to be second placed to her at first, my admiration overrided my crushed pride. I sought her out to help me become a better ninja, and-"

"She trained you" Neji finished for him.

"Yeah, she did" Sasuke said. "Hm, it sounds like you hold Naruko at a very high regard" Neji gave him a calculating stare. "I do" Sasuke admits. "She's...amazing" he couldn't help the small laugh that escaped his lips, as his eyes strayed over to the kitchen, where he could see Naruko's back turned to them.

"That, I have to agree" Neji said wistfully. Sasuke narrowed his eyes at him. "Naruko is not only beautiful on the outside, but on the inside as well. It is very easy to fall for her charms, and quite difficult to escape from it" Neji said pouring himself another cup of tea.

"Do you like her?" Sasuke questioned, hiding his clenched fist under the table. Neji looked at him calmly, before lifting a delicate brow and smirking, as if challenging him. "And if I do, what's it to you?"

"This white eyed bastard!" Sasuke before Sasuke could do or say anything Naruko approached them carrying tray of egg sandwiches cut into triangles.

When she noticed Sasuke's angry look and Neji's smug smile, she raised a questioning brow. "Um, what's with the atmosphere?" She jokingly asked. "It looks as if you guys were gonna have a fight"

"It would have been a one sided fight. This bastard wouldn't have been able to move a muscle against me" Sasuke thinks as he grabs a sandwich and started eating, eyes still glaring at Neji. Neji calmly ate his sandwich, pale lavender eyes staring back into Sasuke's coal black eyes.

Lightning flashed between their eyes.

Unknown to the trio, Itachi was watching them through the window, hiding behind a tree. He rolled his eyes at his brother's sheer possessiveness of Naruko. "Ah, my little brother, your possessiveness of Naruko is amusing, but I do hope you don't become an attention hog when the four of us, me, you, Kakashi and that red haired boy Naruko, finally come together as official mates"
