Chapter Twenty One - Haddock Family Tree

-Previously on Night Rider-

As Hiccup sees the Dragon Riders approach the Infirmary, he hands them all the items Snotlout stole from them, one by one. With Astrid getting back her axe and betrothal necklace, the twins getting back their stuffed yak and Macey, Fishlegs's botany and dragon manuals, and finally Heather's axe, but he stops when he sees her horn.

Hiccup: "Hang on a second..."

He inspects the chieftain seal on it recognising it to be that of Stoick the Vast.

Astrid: "What is it Hiccup?"

Hiccup: "Heather's horn, it has my father's seal on it..."

Astrid: "What? But how?"

Hiccup: "I don't know..."

-And now part two!-

Hiccup just knelt in the infirmary on one knee, looking over the horn in shock, wondering how it ended up in Heather's possession. All while Astrid tries to calm him down, before Heather appears behind them.

Heather: "Hiccup? Hiccup?"

Hiccup: "Uh, Heather?... How long have you had this horn?..."

Heather: "E-ever since I was born, my father gave it to me when I was a baby... It reminds me of home..."

Hiccup: "I see... But this has my father's seal on it..."

Heather: "What?..."

Hiccup: "The seal of Stoick the Vast... Which can only mean one of two things..."

Fishlegs: "Hiccup! Berserkers off the coast of the island!"

Hiccup sighs, feeling caught between protecting the Edge and solving this mystery, knowing the only other person to have answers would have to be his father. With a deep breath, he lets out an order.

Hiccup: "Okay, all of you, surround that vessel, make sure it doesn't go anywhere. If anyone tries anything, use non-deadly force. Evade or flame the arrows and stones! Astrid, see if you could mark them into specific spots by using Stormfly's spine shot. Snotlout, you keep them from going places they shouldn't by lightly flaming the area. Once they're bundled together, just leave them there and don't do anything unless they start to attack, and await further instructions when I get back."

Astrid: "What are you going to do, Hiccup?"

Hiccup: "I'm going to see if I can get some answers about this horn. Because I can't just sit around waiting for the answer to fall in my lap- Gah!"

Suddenly he was hit on the right foot with a box.

Astrid: "Oh my gods! Are you okay?"

Hiccup: "I'll be fine... It just landed on my toe..."

He looks down at the box then up at the sky to see where it came from, seeing a mysterious figure on a four winged dragon.

Hiccup: "Also make sure this dragon doesn't escape your sights..."

Astrid: "Okay.. And the box?"

Hiccup: "Just leave it in our hut, I'll come to it later."

Astrid: "Okay, good luck out there babe..."

Hiccup: "You too Astrid."

He quickly replies with a kiss to her cheek, calling out for Toothless and after a leap, the dragon collects him. Astrid meanwhile entrusts Fishlegs to keep an eye on the mystery rider, while the rest of them put their plan into action, seeing Dagur onboard the ship.
