a/n: hey everyone! this is coming at a weird time, it's literally like 8 in the morning where i am, and i'm at school, but it's my birthday!

this chapter is where everything goes to shit, with is unfortunate but oh well😭 i don't have time to properly proofread this one bc im terrified of getting caught so hopefully there's no glaring mistakes! tell me if there are.

"hyein... you said you took care of him." haerin turned over to face the girl.

two years ago, hyein was tasked with killing doctor octavius.

"she gave me a second chance!" doctor octavius exclaimed. "now, i don't need those prosthetic tentacles!"

instead, hyein cured him of the disease that would have killed him.

"what's your plan here?" haerin asked angrily.

doctor octavius put his hand on her shoulder. "you'll find out. i think you'll hate it." he said with a smile.

haerins arms were restricted, so she couldn't move. doctor octavius stuck a needle into her arm, and began drawing blood. haerin got a bit lightheaded.

he then walked over to hyein. "young one, thank you for the amazing gift you've given me. i'm sorry you have to see me use it like this." he smiled. "unfortunately, because you can use your unique powers to escape at any time, i have to knock you out again."

"no! come on! what the hell!" hyein was using her symbiote tendrils to try to escape, but she didn't think he would notice!

doctor octavius stuck a needle on her neck, and she began to doze off.

"we didn't need her for this experiment. really, we only need you three, and those five." he said, gesturing to haerin, danielle, and minji, then to the five girls behind the wall.

he took blood from minji and danielle next.

"alright then! now it's time for phase one of our plan!" doctor double said, using some sort of intercom.

doctor octavius opened the glass door, greeting the five girls behind it sarcastically.

"i think it's best if we take this process one by one, yes?" doctor octavius asked.

"there's only enough room in the machine for one." doctor double responded. "do the girl from three days ago first. before she dies."

yunah couldn't muster up the energy to disagree. she was so dehydrated. doctor octavius covered up the light that was shining in her face. she realized how badly her head was hurting. then, he crouched down and stuck a needle in her arm, then began drawing blood.

she could almost feel her life slipping away.

after the doctor got enough blood, he took the needle out. the metal bonds that kept her in place suddenly unlocked, and she fell to the floor.

a metal bottle rolled by, and hit her in the head.

"it's water with some electrolytes. drink it. you need the energy." doctor octavius said.

yunah weakly lifted up her hand to grab the bottle. she could barely get it up to her mouth.

she took a sip, and then a gulp, and then she chugged the whole bottle. she felt cleansed, revitalized.

"thank you, doctor." yunah said. those had been the first words she said in a few days.

"don't thank me. it makes what's about to happen... a lot worse." the doctor responded.
