8: Worthless

hyein tapped her pencil on her desk and stared at the clock. she finished with her work forever ago.

the door was open, and leeseo was already out in the halls, waiting for her. she was dancing, skipping, and doing cartwheels in the hallways with a teasing smile.

finally, the bell rang and hyein shoved her notebook, computer and pencil case into her backpack, and threw it over her shoulders, running out to hug leeseo.

she couldn't put her finger on why, but leeseo's body heat was comforting.

after she pulled away, the two walked behind the crowd of people who were trying to go home.

"so, it's friday." leeseo stated.

"you're so observant!" hyein replied sarcastically.

"i'm just trying to point something out! so...?"

"so... what?" the two girls exited through a side gate of their school, and were on the sidewalk.

"my moms working late today, my sister is off getting played by yujin, do you wanna do something with me? we could go back to my house and play video games, go out and get food, watch a movie, anything."

"that... sounds amazing." hyein stared at leeseo with stars in her eyes. none of her friends never really offered to do something like this before.

"okay, how about this. we'll go play games at my apartment, then in a while, we go out to get food and drinks, and when we come back, we'll watch a movie. sound fun?" leeseo asked.

"very much so!"

they went back to leeseo's apartment, put their bags down by her door, and began playing roblox games, changing games every thirty or so minutes.

"there's a tornado leeseo! run!" hyein's avatar stumbled across the screen.

"nah. i can survive it." leeseo responded.

"what do you mean? tornados kill everyone."

"not me, trust." sure enough, just before it hit leeseo, the tornado changed paths, hitting hyein instead.

"oh, bullshit!" hyein said.

hyein's stomach grumbled as the clock struck 5.

"alright. come on. let's go get food." leeseo stood up, and poked hyein's back.

"oh, okay." hyein said slowly.

they went to a nearby fast food place, with plans to go to the ice cream shop right next door. the two girls devoured their burgers and fries, and cleaned up their table before heading to the ice cream shop.

as they left the fast food place, two people also left the ice cream shop. it was gaeul and yujin.

"screw ice cream. please, let's follow them." leeseo said.

hyein lightly chuckled, and grabbed leeseo's hand and they began to follow the two.

"ugh! no way! you saw the video too?" yujin buried her face in her hands. no doubt she was talking about the wonyoung video.

"yup. rei sent it to me like, two minutes after it happened." gaeul responded.

"traitorous bitch."

"okay, come on. it's funny!" gaeul said.

"no it's not!"

"it really is." gaeul laughed just remembering it.

"you of all people shouldn't find it funny."

gaeul stopped laughing.

hyein and leeseo said "oooh" under their breath.

"so, what? you never talked to me about the fact that i've been in love with you for 3 years, but you immediately throw it in my face the second you get embarrassed?" gaeul argued.
