a/n: hey guys! i've been trying to avoid doing authors notes recently, because they become extremely dated almost immediately for any reader who isn't reading these on the days they come out. regardless, i have some relatively important news. plz let me yap for a bit🙏

this chapter is the official start to the final arc of this entire book.

the last book was split up into six but really seven separate arcs, and they were defined by their villains. first doc ock, then mr negative, then venom, then sandman, then kraven, then the green goblin, and finally, morlun and the sinister six.

this one was divided into four but really five arcs, and they're defined by what happens to haerin. the kidnappings, the superior spidergirl, carnage, and finally, this arc, which i'll nickname the final conflict. the entire rest of this book takes place over three days i think (besides the last chapter. it's a timeskip that covers everything from five months after the final battle to 10 years after it).

everything from here on out is admittedly pretty rushed, for reasons i've mentioned before. i've tried to foreshadow events well so it doesn't feel like i just put random shit into this book for shock value, but i'm not sure if it works honestly. like, ill spoil it rn, in the final battle: day two, there literally a mecha fight, and it feels so out of place but idc bc it feels so cool.

anyways, tldr this is the official beginning of the end of the last part!

thanks for reading my yap sesh as always.

hanni had an extremely budget setup. being a broke college student, you needed to save all the money you can. so, instead of going to a karate or taekwondo class, or even just going to a boxing gym, she was in her dorm room.

in her dorm room, she had a inflatable dummy. it was a cylinder, and it had spidershock logos all over it. she tied some rope all around it, encasing it. she then taped the ropes to her ceiling and floor, so it wouldn't move.

this was her punching bag. the ropes made her fists and punches harder, but the fact that she was beating on a glorified balloon that was littered with the logo of her ex girlfriend was still horribly depressing.

regardless, she beat at it like a real punching bag. she would move and dodge like it was punching back. for what she was planning, she needed to know how to fight.

of course, her spinneret days taught her how to fight already, but for her plan? she needed to be the best. besides, her spinneret days are over.

she stared at her new half-stitched costume sitting on top of her sewing machine with a smile.

soon, she went back up to the rooftop. here, she trained her senses.

"HINOKAMI KAGURA! CLEAR BLUE SKY!"

"HOLY SHIT!"

"OH MY GOD!"

hanni laughed. over the past couple days, her hearing had gotten good enough to hear what people were playing on their phones and computers. she heard a lot of really traumatic stuff, but there was always the wholesome parts, like that couple two floors down who were watching demon slayer together.

she sniffed the air.

"oh damn! is someone making tteokbokki?" she exclaimed. her sense of smell getting good enough to smell someone cooking food four floors down might come in handy some day, but it sure was torture now.

her stomach growled. she groaned and looked around the area. she saw the cafe, super real me in the distance.

their drink menu was listed on a small blackboard. she squinted, and read the entire menu from the top of her building across campus.
