20: The Final Battle: Day Two

a/n: next chapter is the last one. this is the last chapter where they do actual superheroing. keep in mind i wrote this a few weeks ago and i was tired out of my mind when writing it so if there's any glaring mistakes im sorry😭

tw: this chapter includes two suicides. one includes a brief description of the body, and a note. the other is a description of the character actually taking their own lives. if you are uncomfortable reading that, please skip over it. the first one covers the first 1000 words, and is mentioned a few times throughout the chapter, and the second one is in the second to last sequence of the chapter.

"in order to kill the spinners, we need all the help we can get. we have to get liz, yujin, wonyoung, and try to wake up leeseo." haerin instructed.

and so, they set out to liz's dorm.

now back on ESU, and in their old dorm building, they made their way to the room that held their first ever college party. liz and rei's dorm.

hanni sniffed the air. "god, it smells disgusting. more disgusting than usual. did a rat die in the walls or something?" she covered her nose as her eyes watered.

"i don't smell anything." hyein commented.

"my sense of smell is better than yours." hanni said with a shrug and a smirk. hyein glared at her.

they got closer and closer to liz's dorm and the smell got stronger.

"gah! she left a window open or something. there's so many flies buzzing..." hanni trailed off, before sniffing the air again. her face dropped. "...no..."

she ran towards liz's room. using her elbow, she rammed the door open.

the other spiders were still running toward hanni and liz's dorm, so they were a bit startled when hanni gasped and shut the door.

hanni covered her mouth, almost like she was going to vomit.

"hanni! what's wrong?" minji asked.

slowly and carefully, danielle opened the door as minji comforted hanni.

two belts, looped together and interlocked.

one was attached to a light fixture.

liz's body hung from the other one.

a small stool was just a few inches away from her, knocked over.

liz killed herself.

flies swarmed her decomposing body.

on her bed sat a ring box, and a small piece of paper. danielle took it, and flipped it over.

to whoever may find this.

my name is elizabeth kim, and my birth name is kim jiwon. hopefully, by the time someone finds this, ive passed on.

i wanted to say im sorry. i'm sorry for all the pain my death may cause to my family, my friends, and my community. i wanted to be strong. i wanted to keep fighting.

but rei was the only reason i had to fight.

i wanted to push on just for her, because she would want me to keep living, right?
