7: Pulled Punches

a/n: hey guys!

i've been working on another book recently but honestly, i really hate it for some reason, so i think i'm gonna scrap it for another idea i had. i said in the authors note of the superior spidergirl that i needed to get better at writing romance before i did a rewrite of it because there's a lot of plot to balance, and i did decently well at the superhero part but the personal and romantic parts i kinda sucked at. so tonight, ill start writing another story where it's just a bunch of kids in high school falling in love. it probably won't be posted for a little while, but i wanted to put this here to motivate myself into actually writing it.

in the days after roxxon spider suppression debuted, they didn't have too many issues with it. until one day, danielle decided to go out patrolling because she had some time in between classes.

haerin also wasn't answering her phone, so she wanted to distract herself.

her silk sense didn't tingle before patrol, so she thought she would be fine.

quickly, she swung around the city, stopping a few petty crimes. then, attempting to stop a speeding car led her to the outside of roxxon plaza.

she did successfully stop the car, and she stood around it, stretching while waiting for the police to catch up. while cracking her neck, she heard a

"HUP, HUP, HUP, HUP"

like soldiers marching.

she cursed herself for staying so close to roxxon plaza for so long. her head turned toward the main roxxon building, and 16 soldiers, clad in red armor. in the center of their chest was the roxxon logo.

it reminded her of the oscorp soldiers from the day of the sandman. would she always have to deal with evil companies making her life miserable?

4 of the soldiers had riot shields. 4 had batons that crackled with a red electricity. 4 had rifles. 4 had two pistols on their holisters.

before she could even raise her hand to defend herself, she was shot from 8 directions. her suit jammed. she fell over.

her eyes widened. this spider suppression tech was meant to jam hanni's suit, but since their suits used essentially the same technology...

after so long using this suit, she had totally forgotten that her legs were still paralyzed! she tried shooting webs at a nearby wall to pull herself away, but webs wouldn't come out of her hands.

the soldiers with riot shields surrounded her, creating a ring. the soldiers with batons entered this ring, and began beating her.

each hit shocked her. she couldn't use her powers or her legs. all she could do was pray that someone found her.

after what felt like an eternity of getting beat, the soldiers picked her up and started to bring her inside the roxxon building.

her eyes were teary and her vision was blurry, but through all this, she saw an unfamiliar suit in the distance. it wasn't any of the spiders, or any of the webspinners.

"LET HER GO!" the spider person landed in front of the building.

haerin?

she was shot with the rifles, but she didn't flinch. she tapped a few buttons on her gauntlets, and flying drones and crawling robots came in.

spider bots? when did she have time for this?

the spider bots shot webs at roxxon soldiers for her. they pulled danielle out of the soldiers grasp.
