In the afternoon, I decided to take a stroll to clear my mind. The crisp, fresh air was invigorating, and the gentle sunlight filtered through the leaves of the trees lining the streets. The city buzzed with activity, but there was a serene quality to the day that made it feel peaceful and reflective. As I walked, the rhythmic sound of my footsteps on the pavement and the occasional chirping of birds provided a calming backdrop. The atmosphere was one of quiet contentment, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of happiness as I wandered aimlessly, letting my thoughts drift.
When I arrived back at the hotel, I was caught off guard by the sound of a voice behind me. "Chloe?"
I turned around to see Jake standing there. "Hey, Jake! What are you doing here?" I asked, surprised but pleased to see him.
Jake's face lit up with a broad smile as he came forward and enveloped me in a warm hug. I was initially taken aback by his sudden embrace but soon returned it with equal enthusiasm. It was a pleasant surprise, and his friendly demeanor was comforting.
After we pulled apart, I asked, "I'm just curious, don't you have rehearsals for the concerts?"
Jake chuckled and shook his head. "Yeah, we do, but I was allowed to leave early because I'm not feeling too well. I need to rest for the next couple of days. But don't worry about it," he added reassuringly.
I couldn't help but feel a bit concerned. "Are you sure?"
Jake placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "Yes, I'm sure. Are you hungry? Should we order something to eat?"
At that moment, my stomach grumbled in agreement. Jake laughed softly. "Alright, let's head to my room if that's okay with you."
I nodded, and we made our way to his room. Once inside, Jake and I waited for the food to arrive. As we chatted, he looked at me with curiosity. "So, what brings you here? Is it a coincidence that you're staying in the same hotel as us, or is it fate?" he asked with a playful tilt of his head and raised eyebrows.
I smiled and answered honestly, "No, it's not a coincidence. Heeseung wanted to surprise you guys. He arranged everything." I couldn't help but grin as I thought about him.
Jake's expression shifted to one of understanding, though he kept it brief. "Oh, Heeseung," he said with a nod.
"How did the rehearsal go?" I asked, eager to hear more.
"It went well. I'm really looking forward to the concert!" Jake said.
"I am too," I agreed. "I can't wait to see you perform live again."
At that moment, there was a knock on the door. Jake got up to answer it, and soon, the food arrived. As we settled down to eat, I asked, "How much do I owe you for the food?"
Jake looked at me with a mixture of surprise and amusement. "Do you really think I want you to pay for this? I'm treating you. Don't even think about discussing it."
I quickly lowered my gaze, feeling a bit sheepish under his intense stare. "Okay, sorry," I said, focusing on the food.
Jake's expression softened, and he looked at me with warmth. "Oh Chloe, you don't need to apologize. It's alright," he said gently.
"Okay, sorry," I replied, laughing a bit awkwardly. "Oh, uh, yeah," I added, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Jake chuckled softly and, with a smile, said, "Cute."
The atmosphere between us was relaxed and friendly. The casual conversation and the shared meal created a comfortable and enjoyable experience. As we ate, the room filled with the pleasant aroma of the food and our easy banter. Despite the initial surprise of running into Jake, the afternoon had turned into an unexpectedly pleasant and enjoyable time.
