After we finished eating, Jake asked, "Could I maybe see your room?"
"Sure," I replied. "The view is absolutely breathtaking!" I added with enthusiasm.
As we left Jake's room together, I noticed three people in the hallway who immediately recognized us. It were Ni-ki, Sunghoon, and—Heeseung.
When our eyes met, I struggled to keep my grin in check, but Heeseung's expression was emotionless. Had he had a rough day?
Sunghoon was the first to speak, his face showing some surprise at seeing me emerge from Jake's room. "Hey Jake... and Chloe?"
Ni-ki chimed in directly, "Hey Chloe! What are you doing in Jake's room?"
Jake merely gave me a subtle smile.
I answered casually, without overthinking it, "We ran into each other earlier and decided to have a meal together. I was just about to show him my room. Do you guys want to join us?"
Before Ni-ki could respond, Sunghoon quickly interjected, "We're exhausted from the day and need to get ready. Right, Heeseung?" He turned to Heeseung, who still wore his blank expression.
Ni-ki looked at him, puzzled. "Heeseung?"
Heeseung seemed to snap out of his thoughts and turned abruptly to Sunghoon and Ni-ki. "Hm? Oh, right," he said, glancing at me before heading back to his room.
I watched him go and asked, "What's up with him?"
Ni-ki shrugged. "I don't know. He's actually been in a good mood all day. I'm not sure what suddenly changed."
Jake tried to reassure me. "Don't worry too much about it. He'll be fine. We should head out."
Once we were in my room, Jake looked around with awe. "Wow, your room is amazing. And you really weren't kidding about the view."
He turned to me and asked, "Did Heeseung pick this for you?"
I was taken aback. "What? Uh, yeah. Why?"
Jake's gaze was fixed on the city below. "You must mean a lot to him," he said thoughtfully.
I was intrigued and wanted to understand his perspective. "What exactly do you mean?" I asked, curious to hear what a member of the group thought.
Jake's tone was earnest as he continued, "Heeseung's not usually one to go out of his way for something like this. When he arranges things, especially on this scale, it means he's deeply invested in the person he's doing it for. It's his way of showing he cares a lot."
His words left me reflecting on Heeseung's actions and what they might signify. It was clear that Jake saw something significant in Heeseung's behavior, and it made me appreciate the effort and thoughtfulness behind his gesture even more.
After Jake's comment, there was a brief moment of silence between us. The room felt charged with the weight of his words, and the serene atmosphere outside seemed to enhance the introspective mood.
We stepped out onto the balcony, where the breathtaking view stretched before us. The cityscape below was a mosaic of buildings, streets, and parks, bathed in the golden light of the setting sun. The horizon was a blend of soft pinks and oranges, with the sun casting a warm glow over everything. The distant hum of the city and the occasional chirp of a bird created a peaceful ambiance that was both calming and inspiring.
The balcony itself was a cozy space, adorned with a few potted plants and a couple of comfortable chairs. The gentle breeze rustled through the leaves, carrying with it the faint scent of blooming flowers from nearby gardens. The atmosphere was tranquil, and the view offered a sense of both privacy and grandeur.
Jake leaned against the railing, taking in the view with a thoughtful expression. After a moment, he turned to me, his gaze steady. "I need to tell you something before it's too late," he said, his voice carrying a note of seriousness.
I looked at him, caught off guard by the gravity of his tone. "What is it, Jake?"
