While they are waiting for the ambulance to arrive Daniel never lets go of her. Lewis offers to take her a few times, but Daniel refuses.
"I don't think it's good to keep moving her too much. I'm fine." He tells the older driver.
"Alright, whatever you want mate. Is she still breathing?" Lewis asks him.Daniel looks and sees Ayla taking deep and regular breaths which makes him feel a little bit leas anxious.
"She's breathing fine. What's taking the ambulance so long?" Daniel asks Leon, the security guard who called for the ambulance."They should arrive any moment now." He says and as if it was planned they all hear sirens coming closer.
Only a minute later the ambulance stops outside and two paramedics jump out.One gets the gurney from the back of the ambulance and the other comes rushing towards them with the medical bag.
"What happened?" She asks them."We're not sure. Before she passed out she said she fell and hit her head. We believe somebody attacked her and probably pushed her. She threw up and then lost consciousness. She has a pretty big cut here." Daniel tells the paramedic and nods at Ayla's head.
When the other medic gets to them with the gurney he has to tell Daniel to put Ayla on it. That way they can have a better look at her to see if she has more injuries.
With a heavy heart, Daniel gently places Ayla on the gurney. Her face is about as white as the sheets she is on and she still isn't moving or waking up.Lewis and Daniel can now only watch as both paramedics are working on Ayla. One pulls up her eyelids and shines in her eye with a bright little light.
"Pupils are reacting and equal, so that's good." He says.
The other puts an IV in her hand to administer medicine and fluids. They put some gauze over the wound which looks even worse now they cleaned some of the blood away. It's a serious gash, but it's covered with Ayla's long hair, so at first they couldn't see it very well, but when the medic was cleaning it they could see it's about three inches long and pretty deep as well.
Daniel felt a bit nauseous when he saw it, but after taking some deep breaths through his nose, he managed to settle his stomach again.
There's some footsteps behind them and as they turn around they see a distressed Christian run up to them.
"Where is she? Is she ok?" He asks frantically.
Ayla is like a daughter to him and having Lando call him to tell him Ayla was attacked, he felt terrified. He is supposed to keep her safe and now one of his other staff members has hurt the one person who has already gone through so much. Christian has never felt more guilty.
"She is still knocked out, but we suspect it will be just a concussion and she is going to need some stitches. We are just heading to the hospital now. Is anyone coming with her?"
The three men simultaneously step forward, all of them wanting to come along.
"We only have space for one of you." The medic says as they push the gurney into the ambulance."I'm going. I'm her boss. You two can follow us there." Christian decides before jumping into the ambulance to be with Ayla.
Lewis and Daniel look at each other, trying to figure out what the other is to Ayla.
Lewis doesn't understand why Daniel was so protective and possessive over Ayla.As far as Lewis knows they only know each other from F1, but he doesn't know what history they have together.
Daniel tries to hide his jealousy. Apparently Ayla and Lewis have something going on and that sucks. But there's nothing he can do about it and he also has no right to do anything about it. So he will just have to suck it up."Come on Dan, let's get to the hospital." Lewis says. Daniel nods and follows him to the garage where Lewis has his rental car.
It doesn't take them long to catch up with the ambulance and they follow it through the streets of Jeddah.
