"I've got you mom." Ayla says as she lifts her mother from the wheelchair onto the bed they now have in the living room.
"I know sweetheart, but you shouldn't have to do this. We have Sandra to help me." Bianca feels horrible that her daughter is now caring for her.
They have a fulltime nurse, something Robert arranged, but every time Ayla is home she doesn't want Sandra to care for her mom.
Ayla is here a lot as she has been doing her first two years of college mostly from home. She is acing every test. And a lot of the assignments they would normally do in groups, Ayla decided to do on her own. But she manages to finish everything on time and with good results.
Every spare minute she is with her mother, helping her or taking her somewhere to have a fun day out. They went to have a spa day, getting massages and all sorts of treatments. They even went to London for a weekend to go to a musical on West End and they spent the entire day shopping.
Ayla makes sure to take as many pictures and videos with her mother as she can, editing them so she has amazing footage to keep for the rest of her life.
It's been over two years since she graduated high school and since she had that night with Daniel. Something she often thinks about. Of course she still follows F1 and she couldn't have been more proud when Daniel became Sebs team mate in Red Bull now Mark decided to quit.
She was furious when he was disqualified from his second place finish in Australia. He did so good and then in the end they found out he had used more fuel than allowed so he lost that podium. But when he won the race in Canada she cheered him on and even shed a little tear of happiness.
Her mother was looking at her, wondering why she was so thrilled to see this specific driver win a race. Ayla was always very happy when Seb won, but never as much as she was when this Australian young man won.
Bianca asked her if she knew Daniel and Ayla started to blush. Her face bright red and flushed. Something that told Bianca all she needed to know, but still she asked more and eventually Ayla admitted that she had a bit of a flirt with Daniel. Bianca understood that it was more than a flirt, but she also knew Ayla deserved her privacy, so she didn't press further.
It was a good thing Robert wasn't home, he was also in Canada for the race, because he would be less than pleased if he knew his daughter messed around with one of the drivers.
Right now Bianca is at a stable phase of her illness. She has lost the ability to walk and she can't use her hands anymore. But she can still talk, even though it's slower and she sometimes struggles to form the words. But right now she is doing alright. She did however decided to wait with her euthanasia, yes the nurse has to help her go to the toilet now, but Bianca feels that right now is not the right time. Especially for Ayla.
Her daughter is not ready to lose her mother and honestly, Bianca isn't ready to say goodbye either. So she had to get used to somebody cleaning her up after using the toilet, but she is still enjoying her time with her family too much to leave them behind.
John visits at least once a month, he never stays long and he seems to find it very difficult to see his mother like this. Ayla however is a trooper and she has proven to be an incredibly strong young woman.
It's not how Bianca wants Ayla to spend her college years though. She barely hangs out with people her age. Only when Amy comes back they might go out together or watch a movie, but only if Robert is at home. If he is away, there's nothing that can get Ayla to leave her mother and that fills Bianca with a feeling of guilt.
She should be clubbing, dating boys, having friends and just be a twenty one year old student. But here she is, grown up way too much in those two years, looking after her mother. It's the complete opposite of what should be. Every time Bianca wants to talk about it, Ayla immediately tells her mom that she doesn't want all that. She just wants to be here with Bianca and that's that.
