Riya's POV
I jolted awake as freezing water splashed over me, the shock sending shivers down my spine. My head throbbed with unbearable pain, and I instinctively clutched it, trying to steady myself. I heard the sound of a door closing, but my vision was blurred, making it impossible to see who it was. Slowly, my vision adjusted, and I peered through the haze to see where I was.
As my surroundings came into focus, I realized with a jolt of terror that I was in a dungeon-like room. Panic surged through me, and I scrambled to get up, only to find my left hand and right leg bound with heavy chains. Fear coursed through my veins as I tugged helplessly at my restraints, desperate to escape.
Tears began to stream down my face as the futility of tugging at the chains became painfully clear. I cried out for help, my voice echoing off the cold, stone walls. When no response came, my cries turned to quiet sobs. My mind drifted to thoughts of my family, imagining their worry when I didn't come home. The thought of their anxiety made my sobs deepen, and I felt a warm liquid trickling down from my head.
Tentatively, I touched the spot and pulled my hand away to see blood smeared across my fingers. The memory hit me like a freight train. I recalled going to the CEO's office, the tense atmosphere, and then Ms. Bose striking me with an iron rod. The pain, the shock, and now the terror of my current predicament flooded back, leaving me trembling in the dim light of the dungeon.
I began to rack my brain, trying to figure out what I could have done to end up in this nightmarish situation. The fear and confusion swirled in my mind, making it hard to think clearly. What had I done to deserve this? Had I unknowingly crossed a line? Betrayed someone's trust? My thoughts raced, searching for a clue, an explanation, anything that could make sense of the terror I was now facing.
My thoughts came to a halt as I heard heavy footsteps approaching the room where I was kept chained. The sound grew louder, echoing ominously off the walls. My heart pounded in my chest, each thud a painful reminder of my helplessness. I held my breath, straining to hear any clue about who was coming and what they might do next.
The footsteps finally stopped, and the creak of the door opening sent a shiver down my spine. As the dim light from the corridor illuminated the room, I saw a face that seemed vaguely familiar. The image clicked into place from my visit to the CEO's office—this man was seated in the power seat of the company. Realization hit me like a jolt; he must be the CEO of Up View. My heart raced as I struggled to process why he was here and what his intentions might be.
He stepped closer, and fear gripped me so tightly that I instinctively backed away, pressing myself against the wall as much as I could. The man's presence was intimidating, and his eyes—fiery and filled with barely contained anger—seemed to pierce through the dim light. His very demeanour radiated danger, and the tension in the room became almost unbearable. He stopped, seemingly taken aback by my terrified reaction, but the menace in his gaze remained unrelenting.
His next question left me utterly baffled: "How much did they pay you to leak my company information?" The words echoed in my mind, but their meaning made no sense to me. I stared at him, confusion clouding my thoughts. I couldn't grasp why he would think I was involved in such a scheme. My mind raced, struggling to make sense of the accusation, but I was too overwhelmed and terrified to respond coherently.
When I failed to answer, the man seized my hair roughly, yanking me toward him as he roared, "Speak, you woman! Why did you do this?" The searing pain, exacerbated by the wound from Ms. Bose's blow, was unbearable. I screamed at the top of my lungs, my tears mingling with the agony. I managed to cry out, "Please, sir, I didn't do anything! I swear I didn't leak the company information."
