Rajeev's POV

I was in the study when I received a call from my trusted contact in the police department, Rishabh Kapoor. I picked up on the first ring. "Speak," I instructed curtly.

Rishabh's voice was low and urgent. "Sir, Inspector Arjun contacted Ms. Riya yesterday to discuss something. This morning, Ms. Riya came to the station. Inspector Arjun informed her that he had found some new information, which he deemed crucial. However, Ms. Riya ignored it, insisting that she doesn't remember anything. She even begged Inspector Arjun not to reopen the case, pleading that she and her family have been through enough."

I listened intently, processing the new information. "And what was the inspector's response?" I asked.

Rishabh replied, "Sir, Inspector Arjun said he would consider her request, but I don't think he'll step back."

"Anything else?" I inquired.

"Nothing else, sir. If there's any update, I'll let you know," Rishabh said.

I hummed in acknowledgment. "Keep up the good work, Rishabh. And I warn you, the next time you refer to Riya by her name, I won't hesitate to erase your existence. I prefer you address her as Ma'am or Miss from now on and show her the respect you show me. Do you understand?"

"Yes, sir, I understand," Rishabh said firmly, fear evident in his voice. I ended the call with a smirk, revelling in the power I wield and the fear I instilled in others.

Call me crazy or obsessed, but I don't tolerate anyone casually mentioning Riya's name. The thought of some guy talking to her, taking her name so casually or even looking at her for a mere second makes me want to bury them six feet under.

I looked up from my phone, and my eyes fell on the series of portraits on the wall. Rising from my seat, I walked over to one of the portraits and stood before it, observing the woman who had been occupying my mind for all these days. It was Riya's portrait. I lifted my hand and caressed the image with my fingers, a smile forming on my lips as I gazed at her picture. She looked so innocent and beautiful, like a delicate kitten.

In my line of work, showing vulnerability or attachment is a weakness and that too a woman was never in my books, but with Riya, it was different. She had unknowingly captured my interest where all I want is to lock her up with me just to see her and my reflection in her doe eyes.

The thought of Inspector Arjun reopening the case and digging into her past made my blood boil. He was a threat, a potential disruptor of the fragile peace Riya had started to build for herself. I needed to find a way to neutralize this threat without drawing too much attention.

As I continued to stare at her portrait, a plan began to form in my mind. I would need to tread carefully, ensuring that every move I made was calculated and precise. For now, I had to keep a close eye on Inspector Arjun and gather more information about his motives and actions.

I spent the next few days strategizing, carefully considering my next steps. I couldn't afford any mistakes. My network of informants kept me updated on Inspector Arjun's activities, and I made sure to use every resource at my disposal to monitor his movements.

One evening, while I was deep in thought, Vikram walked into the study. "Rajeev, we need to talk," he said, his tone serious.

I looked up, slightly annoyed at the interruption. "What is it, Vikram?"

"It's about the inspector. I have some information that might interest you."

I gestured for him to sit. "Go on."
