Vikram's POV

I was in my cabin, meticulously reviewing the project proposal file of an important client. The room was silent except for the faint hum of the air conditioner, which allowed me to concentrate fully. That is until the intercom's sharp ring shattered my focus. I sighed and picked up the receiver with a touch of annoyance.

"Sir, Riya Sharma has submitted her resignation and is requesting an immediate release," the HR manager informed me.

Her words hit me like a freight train, leaving me both shocked and intrigued. Shocked because it was Riya, and she was leaving my company. After what happened, no person would be willing to work with a boss like me, or they would have solely disappeared from my radar, fearing me. But I was intrigued by the audacity and confidence it took for her to march into my office and demand resignation. Curiosity gnawed at me.

"Send her in," I instructed, my voice steady but my mind racing with questions.

As I hung up the phone, I couldn't help but be impressed by her boldness. This meeting is going to be very interesting, I thought.

I observed Riya's movements from the CCTV and saw her taking the lift to my floor. For the past few months, I had been feeling guilty for what I did to her, but Rupali's words made me realize that whatever happened was not in my hands. It was a total misunderstanding, and she also said if some other person was in my shoes, they would have also reacted the same way. To be honest, Rupali made me feel better, and she is the best person in my life. I came out of my thoughts when I saw Riya coming out of the lift and noticed her ignoring Rupali as if she wasn't even there. This made me smirk at Riya's behaviour.

I could hear her knocking at my door, so without further delay, I said, "Come in." The door of my office opened, revealing Riya, and I looked up to see her coming inside. Her face was pale, and she looked weak. I asked her to take a seat, but she said she didn't want to. When I insisted further, she replied like a fierce tiger, "We are not friends or close to each other, Mr. Mehta," and explained that she needed my signature on the papers and wanted to be out of my life as soon as I signed them. Even though she looked pale and weak from the outside, she was just like a phoenix.

I asked her why she wanted to resign from the company, which was once her dream company. Her reply was sharp and cutting, "If the dream becomes a horrible nightmare, it's no longer a dream, Mr. Mehta."

I was shocked and felt a pang of guilt because her words struck me like lightning. Composing myself, I went through the papers and said, "What if I don't sign these papers?" My words left her shocked, and I could see her eyes lighting up with anger.

RIYA'S POV

His words hit me like a punch to the gut, and I felt my anger rise. "HAVE YOU GONE NUTS, MR. MEHTA?" I yelled at the top of my lungs.

As I yelled, the doors burst open, and Rupali stormed in, shouting, "How dare you, woman! You dare to yell at Vikram?"

I completely ignored her and turned back to Mr. Mehta.

Mr. Mehta smirked, leaning back in his seat, appearing almost amused by my outburst. "Calm down, Riya," he said coolly. "I'm simply considering my options." Then, turning to Rupali, he added, "Cool down, love."

I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. "You have no options, Mr. Mehta. You will sign these papers. I'm not asking; I'm telling you. After everything you've done, you owe me at least that much. And if you don't, I don't mind telling anyone and the press what you did to me, which you certainly wouldn't want."
