Neil's POV
The weeks grew into months, and Riya's progress, although slow, was steady. Each smile, each word spoken, and each moment of connection were victories for our family. The house that once echoed with tension and misunderstanding was now filled with hope and love. Even though her mental health was improving, her physical health remained the same; her face was still pale.
We had found a new rhythm, one that revolved around patience, understanding, and unconditional support. Ragini's transformation had set the tone, and we all followed, united in our determination to help Riya heal. Though I didn't know if her change was real or temporary, I was thankful for her. Ragini played a key role in Riya's recovery.
One evening, as we were in the living room, Riya approached us and stood in the centre of the room. "Thank you all for not giving up on me," she said. Her words brought tears to our eyes. I reached out and held her hand, my voice choked with emotion. "We are a family, Riya. We will always be here for each other, no matter what."
Riya smiled brightly and nodded her head like a child. More tears started coming from my eyes because, after so long, I could see her smile genuinely, a bright smile, with her eyes shining like stars. It was a moment of pure joy and relief. I could feel the collective weight of our worries lifting, replaced by a renewed sense of hope.
Riya continued, "Can I go to the company tomorrow?" She asked, and it made us all worried again. So I said, "There is no need for you to work, Riya, and..." Before I could complete my sentence, Riya interrupted and said, "To resign from there." Her words made me pause, my heart heavy with concern and pride.
I took a deep breath and nodded. "If that's what you want, Riya. We'll support you."
Riya smiled and said, "I will go tomorrow and complete the formalities."
Vijay interjected, "Ok then, I will accompany you."
But Riya shook her head. "No, Bhai, I want to go alone, please."
Vijay's face turned worried. "I don't think it's a good decision, Riya. Let me come with you."
Riya insisted, "It's been two months, and I haven't been out of the house for this long. Trust me, I will keep you informed, but don't stop me from going."
Seeing Riya's stubbornness, Vijay couldn't help but sigh in defeat. "Ok, you can go, but keep us posted and don't make us worried."
Riya yelled, "Yay, thank you, Bhai!" and hugged Vijay, jumping with joy. After this, we all had dinner and went to sleep in our respective rooms.
Riya's POV
I was lying in my bed, thinking about the events of the past few months. Everyone thinks that I forgot everything that happened to me. But the truth is, I didn't forget anything.
I'm still traumatized by what Rupali did to me. I thought I could forgive her, but when she blackmailed me by threatening to harm my family if I told them the truth, it still haunts me. I decided to let go of the anger, but I knew I could never forgive them. The moment she threatened Meenu and Aryan, I knew I had to take a stand. The best way to protect my family was to cut ties with Rupali and Mr. Mehta by resigning from the company and confronting them in person. "Whatever it is, family comes first," I said to myself.
This decision wasn't easy. I felt a mix of fear and determination as I thought about facing them. But I knew it was the right thing to do. I needed to reclaim my life and ensure my family's safety. Confronting them was the first step towards healing and moving forward.
